1. Mass Transport Through Polymer Films: The Importance of Interfaces and Compatibility
Abstract : Different types of barriers are used in packaging to keep and protect products from the surrounding environment and are often essential for storing and transportation. Today, many barriers are made of different types of polymers, but since most polymers do not exhibit desired barrier properties on their own, combinations must be used. READ MORE

2. Polyethylene Blends, a Material Concept for Future HVDC-cable Insulation
Abstract : High-voltage cables are a critical component of tomorrow’s power grids that seamlessly integrate hydro, wind and solar power. Further improvements in transmission capacity of both high-voltage alternating- and direct-current, HVAC and HVDC, cables are likely reached through improved insulation materials. READ MORE

3. Additive-Driven Improvements in Interfacial Properties and Processing of TMP-Polymer Composites
Abstract : Efforts to address environmental concerns have resulted in new regulations designed to plan the reduction of plastic and synthetic polymer usage, necessitating the search for sustainable natural alternatives with comparable cost-effectiveness and mechanical performance. Thermomechanical pulp (TMP) fibres are one of the most affordable natural fibres that have no chemical refining in production, production have a high yield of 90-98% and TMP fibres have been demonstrated to improve the mechanical characteristics (strength, stiffness and toughness) of wood-polymer composites (WPCs) compared to the pure polymer. 4. SALDI-MS Method Development for Analysis of Pharmaceuticals and Polymer Degradation Products
Abstract : Surface assisted laser desorption ionization-mass spectrometry (SALDI-MS) was evaluated as a new tool for analysis of polymer degradation products. A SALDI method was developed enabling rapid analysis of low molecular mass polyesters and their degradation products. READ MORE

5. Extracellular Matrix Based Materials for Tissue Engineering
Abstract : The extracellular matrix is (ECM) is a network of large, structural proteins and polysaccharides, important for cellular behavior, tissue development and maintenance. Present thesis describes work exploring ECM as scaffolds for tissue engineering by manipulating cells cultured in vitro or by influencing ECM expression in vivo. READ MORE
