21. Enhancing UV-protection of clear coated wood by utilizing reactive UV-absorber and epoxyfunctionalized soybean oil
Abstract : This work presents the development of a new pretreatment for clear coated wood, that aims to increase the photoprotection of exterior wood products, and at the same time make the system more environmentally friendly. The pretreatment comprises the reactive UV absorber 2-hydroxy-4(2,3-epoxypropoxy)-benzophenone (HEPBP), which has a primary epoxy group that can be covalently attached to the hydroxyl groups of the wood substrate. 22. Synthetic Paper for Point-of-Care Diagnostics : Capillary control, surface modifications, and their applications
Abstract : Capillary-based platforms for diagnostics are popular for the point-of-care diagnostics market because of their low cost, easy fabrication, and easy operation. Lateral flow tests are an excellent example of capillary-based platforms for point-of-care diagnostics. READ MORE

23. Synthesis of Conjugated Polymers and Small Molecules for Organic Light-Emitting Devices and Photodetectors
Abstract : Production cost and environmental impact are the two major concerns that are related to the conventional optoelectronic devices. It is desirable for the modern semiconductors that they are free of toxic/costly metals, they can be processed with low-cost solution-based methods, and their optical, electronic, and mechanical properties can be easily tuned depending on the target application. 24. Simulations of Silicon Carbide Chemical Vapor Deposition
Abstract : Most of the modern electronics technology is based on the semiconducting material silicon. The increasing demands for smaller electronic devices with improved performance at lower costs drive the conventional silicon technology to its limits. READ MORE

25. Wood hydrolysates- New concepts in renewable material design
Abstract : Wood hydrolysates (WHs) are biomasses obtained in processes involving hydrothermal treatments of wood. WHs are rich in hemicelluloses and lignin. Instead of complicated extraction processes, such as precipitation, or extensive purification, this work utilizes the crude WHs. READ MORE
