  1. 6. Mass Transport Through Polymer Films: The Importance of Interfaces and Compatibility

    Author : Sofie Gårdebjer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cellulose; Barriers; Surface modification; Compatibility; Interfaces; Polymer films;

    Abstract : Different types of barriers are used in packaging to keep and protect products from the surrounding environment and are often essential for storing and transportation. Today, many barriers are made of different types of polymers, but since most polymers do not exhibit desired barrier properties on their own, combinations must be used. READ MORE

  2. 7. Crystallization in Constrained Polymer Structures : Approaching the Unsolved Problems in Polymer Crystallization

    Author : Eugenia Núñez; Ulf W. Gedde; Bernard Lotz; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Crystallization; Constrained structures; poly ε–caprolactone ; poly ethylene oxybenzoate .; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : The knowledge regarding certain issues in polymer crystallization e.g. the possible existence of short–lived mesophases remains inconclusive due to experimental limitations. Polymers undergo chain folding upon crystallization, which introduces some complications that are not found in crystallization of low molar mass materials. READ MORE

  3. 8. Poly(N-Isopropylacrylamide) Polymer Brush Functionalized Nanostructures as Thermo-Responsive Gating Systems for Protein Transportation

    Author : Justas Svirelis; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; biomolecule transportation; Poly N-Isopropylacrylamide ; polymer brushes; fluorescence microscopy; thermo-responsive polymers; surface plasmon resonance;

    Abstract : Controlling molecule translocation through nanosized gaps is of great interest in novel systems for single molecule analysis and biomolecular membranes. The molecular gating property of thermo-responsive end-grafted poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) polymer brushes on well-shaped gold-silica nanostructures is intended to be investigated for controlled protein transportation via extinction spectroscopy and fluorescence microscopy methods below and above PNIPAM lower critical solution temperature (LCST; 32 °C in water). 4. 9. Design, Synthesis and Characterization of Conjugated Polymers for Photovoltaics and Electrochromics

    Author : Kim Bini; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; organic electronics; conjugated polymers; electrochromic polymers; polymer solar cells; all-polymer solar cells; side chain engineering;

    Abstract : With the invention of organic electronics, a new class of materials needed to be explored and suitable applications found. The use as semiconductors in many different devices has been explored, where photovoltaics, light-emitting diodes and field-effect transistors have been prominent. READ MORE
