  1. 1. Solubility and polymorphism of molecular compounds

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Sandra Gracin; KTH.; [2005]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical engineering; solubility; prediction of solubility; UNIFAC; activity coefficients; activity of the solid phase; polymorphism; controlled crystallization; sonication.; Kemiteknik; TECHNOLOGY Chemical engineering; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the controlled crystallization of small organic molecules and is focused on solubility and polymorphism. The solubility was determined for phenylacetic acid, p-hydroxyphenylacetic acid, p-aminophenylacetic acid, p-hydroxybenzoic acid and ibuprofen in both water and in a range of organic solvents. 2. 2. Functional characterisation of the CAG polymorphism in the androgen receptor- in vitro and in vivo

    University dissertation from Department of Clinical Sciences, Lund University

    Author : Hannah Nenonen; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2011]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; androgen receptor; polymorphism; CAG polymorphism; androgen receptor activity; infertility; prostate cancer; androgen receptor function;

    Abstract : The androgen receptor (AR) is the mediator of androgen actions. In the AR coding region there is a polymorphic CAG repeat encoding a stretch of the amino acid glutamine (Q). The repeat length modulates receptor activity and is normally distributed between 10-30 CAG with a median length of 22 repeats in white men. READ MORE

  4. 4. Polymorphism and Crystallization of p-Aminobenzoic Acid

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Sandra Gracin; KTH.; [2004]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; controlled crystallization; polymorphism; p-aminobenzoic acid;

    Abstract : Polymorphs are solid phases where the chemical composition isequal but the crystal structure differs. Many organic compoundsmay appear in more than one crystalline structure. READ MORE

  5. 5. The transferrin polymorphism population genetics and associations with reproductive hazards and disease

    University dissertation from Umeå : Umeå Universitet

    Author : Carin Sikström; Umeå universitet.; [1994]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Human serum transferrin (TF) carries iron from the intestine, reticuloendothelial system and liver parenchymal cells to proliferating cells in the body. TF is highly polymorphic, and previous findings of associations between TF types and reproductive hazards in different species suggest that the TF polymorphism may be involved in natural selection and susceptibility to disease.
