  1. 1. Popliteal Artery Aneurysm : Epidemiology, Surgical Management and Outcome

    Author : Hans Ravn; Martin Björck; Anders Wanhainen; Torben V Schroeder; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Surgery; popliteal artery aneurysm; thrombolytic therapy; acute ischemia; surgical technique; long-term outcome; surveillance; Kirurgi;

    Abstract : Even if popliteal artery aneurysm (PAA) is the most common peripheral aneurysm, no single surgeon or institution has enough patients to study this disease with appropriate scientific methods, and no population-based investigation exists. PAA epidemiology, treatment, management, and outcome were studied in a population-based study of 571 patients (717 legs) primarily operated on for PAAs and 100 episodes of preoperative thrombolysis in Sweden between 1987 and 2002. 2. 2. Popliteal Artery Aneurysms : - epidemiology, treatment and results

    Author : Anne Cervin; Martin Björck; Mårten Falkenberg; Hans Ravn; Michelle Antonello; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Popliteal artery aneurysms; Endovascular; Open surgery; Outcome; Occlusion; Screening; Prevalence; Rupture; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Abstract : Popliteal aneurysms (PA) are limb threatening, since the aneurysm thrombose and emboli from the aneurysm sac occlude the distal vessels, resulting in chronic or acute limb ischaemia. Open surgical repair (OSR) has been challenged by endovascular repair (ER), a minimal invasive technique. READ MORE

  3. 3. Aspects of endovascular repair of popliteal artery aneurysm

    Author : Axel Wrede; Vaskulära sjukdomar - kliniska studier; []

  4. 4. Aspects on arterial dimensions with special reference to aneurysmal disease

    Author : Thomas Sandgren; Kirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; orthopaedics; Surgery; Arteria poplitea; Arteria femoralis; Aneurysm; Arterial dimensions; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Abstract : The incidence of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) is increasing. The risk of rupture is related to diameter. However, rupture may occur also in small AAA. To evaluate the size of an aneurysm when related to the predicted normal aortic diameter might be a better predictor of risk. READ MORE

  5. 5. Influence of genetics and mechanical properties on large arteries in man

    Author : Rachel De Basso; Toste Länne; Martin Björck; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Arterial pathology is the major contributor to cardiovascular diseases and mortality. The mechanical properties of arteries are independent factors for cardiovascular disease and mortality, where genetics influence the structure of the arterial wall, which may result in change in arterial stiffness.
