  1. 1. Porous Amorphous Calcium Carbonate and Phosphate : Synthesis and Application

    Author : Rui Sun; Ocean Cheung; Maria Strømme; Ken Welch; Denis Gebauer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; amorphous calcium carbonate; amorphous calcium phosphate; stabilization; crystallization; porous material; drug delivery; gas adsorption; Engineering Science with specialization in Nanotechnology and Functional Materials; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot nanoteknologi och funktionella material;

    Abstract : The synthesis of porous amorphous calcium carbonate (ACC) and porous amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) was developed in this thesis. Porous ACC with specific Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area of >350 m2/g was synthesized using a surfactant free approach. The high surface area of porous ACC was related to its nanostructure. READ MORE

  2. 2. Crystalline Porous Materials Inspired by Metallodrugs

    Author : Erik Svensson Grape; A. Ken Inge; Tomislav Friščić; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; metal-organic frameworks; material synthesis; pharmaceuticals; porous materials; crystallography; oorganisk kemi; Inorganic Chemistry;

    Abstract : Inspiration for developing robust porous materials from sustainable reagents was acquired by determining the crystal structures of bismuth subsalicylate and bibrocathol, two long-used and commonly available bismuth-based pharmaceuticals. From these insights, a number of coordination polymers and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) were developed, facilitating the synthesis of robust porous materials from sustainably sourced reagents. 3. 3. Sustainable porous organic materials : Synthesis, sorption properties and characterization

    Author : Fredrik Björnerbäck; Niklas Hedin; Knut Irgum; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; porous materials; sorbents; microporous; CO2 capture and separation; gas adsorption; activated carbon; humins; hypercrosslinked polymers; sustainable; Materials Chemistry; materialkemi;

    Abstract : The resources available to us humans, including metals, minerals, biomass, air, water, and anything else on the planet, are being used at an increasing rate. This anthropogenic use of resources both depletes the resources and has negative impacts on other resources, e.g. the biosphere. READ MORE

  4. 4. Numerical Modelling of Dynamics of Light Porous Materials

    Author : Peter Göransson; Teknisk akustik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mechanical engineering; glass fibre; foam; material characterisation; elasto-acoustic; fluid-structure interaction; finite element; Biot; porous material; hydraulics; vacuum technology; vibration and acoustic engineering; Maskinteknik; hydraulik; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik;

    Abstract : Porous materials are among the most commonly used materials for noise and vibration reduction in modern transportation vehicles. To design, industrially relevant, weight and cost effective noise and vibration measures, there is a need for general prediction models capable of representing the elasto-acoustic behaviour of such materials. 5. 5. Micro-Structure Modelling of Acoustics of Open Porous Material

    Author : Eva Lundberg; Peter Göransson; Per Wennhage; Ulf Orrenius; Camille Perrot; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; acoustics; porous material; flow resistivity; micro-structure; anisotropic; foam; strut; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Abstract : Transportation is a large and growing part of the world’s energy consumption. This drives a need for reduced weight of rail vehicles, just as it does for road vehicles. In spite of weight reductions, the vehicle still has to provide the same level of acoustic comfort for the passengers. READ MORE
