  2. 22. Imaging Anxiety : Neurochemistry in Anxiety Disorders Assessed by Positron Emission Tomography

    Author : Andreas Frick; Mats Fredrikson; Tomas Furmark; David J Nutt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Fear; Brain; Serotonin; Neurokinin; Substance P; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Abstract : Anxiety disorders, including social anxiety disorder (SAD) and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are common and disabling conditions. Largely based on animal and pharmacological studies, both the serotonergic and substance P/neurokinin-1 (SP/NK1) systems have been implicated in their underlying pathology. READ MORE

  3. 23. Computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma

    Author : Miriam Rodriguez; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; NHL; CT; MRI; PET; malignancy grade; prognosis; residual mass; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; diagnostisk radiologi; Diagnostic Radiology;

    Abstract : Certain aspects of the use of computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) were evaluated in patients with non-Hodgkin'slymphoma (NHL) with the aim of improving the management of these patients.Subjective evaluation of the tumor pattern on CT images, and quantification of tracer uptake using 11C methionine (11C Met) and [18F] fluorodeoxyglucose (18FDG) PET in patients with NHL, were performed to determine their relations to malignancy grade. 4. 24. Positron emission tomography studies of the D1-dopamine receptor in schizophrenia

    Author : Per Stenkrona; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on investigations of central D1-dopamine receptor (D1R) binding in vivo using positron emission tomography (PET). The aims were i) to examine the antipsychotic effect of a D1R antagonist in schizophrenia and ii) to test the dopamine hypothesis of schizophrenia by comparing D1R binding between patients and healthy subjects. 5. 25. Positron emission tomography : development, evaluation and application of quantification methods

    Author : Pontus Plavén-Sigray; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is an imaging technique that allows for in vivo quantification of biochemical and physiological processes in the brain. Examples of targets in the brain that can be imaged using PET are dopamine receptors and the translocator protein 18kDa (TSPO). READ MORE
