  1. 1. Wind power in thermal power systems

    Author : Lisa Göransson; [2008]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; integration; wind power; variation moderator; PHEV; storage;

    Abstract : AbstractWind power is a key technology in the effort to transform the power system in order to reduce its climate impact. However, the ability of wind power to reduce CO2-emissions depends on the properties of the power system. READ MORE

  2. 2. High temperature corrosion in a biomass-fired power boiler Reducing furnace wall corrosion in a waste wood-fired power plant with advanced steam data

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Yousef Alipour; Pamela Henderson; Peter Szalalos; Christofer Leygraf; Jan Froitzheim; [2013]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High temperature corrosion; Waterwalls; Power plant corrosion; NOx reducing enviroments; Biomass; Waste wood; Thermodynamic calculation modelling; corrosion-resistance alloy; Furnace wall corrosion; Högtemperaturekorrosion; Eldstadsväggar; kraftverks korrosion; låg Nox mijöer; biomassa; returträ; Termodynamisk modellering; korrosionsbeständighet legering; eldstadskorrosion;

    Abstract : The use of waste (or recycled) wood as a fuel in heat and power stations is becoming more widespread in Sweden (and Europe), because it is CO2 neutral with a lower cost than forest fuel. However, it is a heterogeneous fuel with a high amount of chlorine, alkali and heavy metals which causes more corrosion than fossil fuels or forest fuel. READ MORE

  3. 3. Availability Analysis of Three Different Types of Combined Cycle Power Plants

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Javed S. Alvi; [1992]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CCC power plants; NOx reduction; IGCC power plants; Makrov process; repair policies; effectiveness; PFBC power plants; active redundancy; backup fuel reducition;

    Abstract : The goal of power plants with higher efficiency and lower environmental risk than conventional power plants has produced three types of combined cycle power plants. These are: 1) the conventional combined cycle (CCC) power plant, 2) the pressurised fluidised bed combustion (PFBC) power plants, and 3) the integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) power plants. 4. 4. Steam Turbine Optimisation for Solar Thermal Power Plant Operation

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : James Spelling; Andrew Martin; Magnus Genrup; []
    Keywords : solar thermal power; steam-turbine; start-up; cool-down; dispatchability increase; koncentrerad solenergi; ångturbin; uppstart; nedkylning; ökad flexibilitet;

    Abstract : The provision of a sustainable energy supply is one of the most important issues facing humanity at the current time, given the strong dependence of social and economic prosperity on the availability of affordable energy and the growing environmental concerns about its production. Solar thermal power has established itself as a viable source of renewable power, capable of generating electricity at some of the most economically attractive rates. READ MORE

  5. 5. Electrical System of a Wave Power Plant

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Institutionen för teknikvetenskaper

    Author : Cecilia Boström; [2009]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Wave energy is a renewable energy source with a large potential to contribute to the world's electricity production. There exist several techniques to convert the energy in the ocean waves into electric energy. The wave energy converter presented in this thesis is based on a linear synchronous generator. READ MORE
