1. On Gate Drivers for MOS-Controlled Power Devices and dv-dt Filters for Train Traction Converters
Abstract : In this thesis, low-loss gate-drive solutions and a proposed dv/dt-filter have been investigated with focus on train traction converters with dv/dt constraints.By using the silicon carbide (SiC) junction field-effect transistor (JFET), the switching losses can be significantly reduced compared to the commonly used insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT), but complex gate-driver solutions are required for high utilization in terms of loss reduction. 2. MOSFET Modeling Aimed at Minimizing EMI in Switched DC/DC Converters Using Active Gate Control
Abstract : This thesis deals with electromagnetic interference that can arise from switched DC/DC-converters intended for low-power applications, e.g. within the telecom or automotiveindustry. READ MORE

3. Photonic terahertz-wave generation, radiation and quasioptical integration
Abstract : This thesis deals with the uni-travelling-carrier photodiode (UTC-PD) based photonic generation of terahertz waves, antenna designs for the terahertz radiation and a novelcatadioptric lens for quasioptical integration. The ongoing and accomplished research work on the UTC-PD, its limitations and optimisation scopes for attaining higher bandwidth and higher output power have been discussed. 4. Design, Processing and Characterization of Silicon Carbide Diodes
Abstract : Electronic power devices made of silicon carbide promisesuperior performance over today's silicon devices due toinherent material properties. As a result of the material'swide band gap of 3. READ MORE

5. Heterostructure Diodes for Millimeter Wave Power Generation
Abstract : This thesis deals with two types of heterostructure diodes namely the Resonant Tunneling Diode (RTD) and the Single barrier varactor diode (SBV). The RTD is a device for high frequency generation either as a negative reistance oscillators or as a multiplier. Different means to reach high frequencies are outlined. READ MORE
