16. Arbitrary Waveform Impedance Spectroscopy for Characterization and Diagnostics of High Voltage Insulation
Abstract : In high voltage engineering the dielectric response technique is a widely used tool both for characterization of insulation materials and for diagnostics of components such as transformers and cables. Currently available techniques are not capable of measuring on-line which would be advantageous; when characterizing a material and evaluating the effect of different voltage magnitudes, waveforms and temperatures it is desirable to be able to observe the continuous development of the dielectric properties. 18. Voltage Dip (Sag) Estimation in Power Systems based on Stochastic Assessment and Optimal Monitoring
Abstract : This dissertation deals with the statistical characterization of the performance of power systems in terms of voltage dips (sags). It presents a method named voltage dip estimation that extends monitoring results to buses not being monitored. READ MORE

19. Synchrophasor Applications and their Vulnerability to Time Synchronization Impairment
Abstract : Recent years have seen the significance of utilizing time-synchronized, high resolution measurements from phasor measurement units (PMUs) to develop and implement wide-area monitoring, protection and control (WAMPAC) systems. WAMPAC systems aim to provide holistic view of the power system and enable detection and control of certain power system phenomena to enhance reliability and integrity of the grid. READ MORE

20. Methods for Synchrophasor-Based Power SystemInstability Detection and HVDC Control
Abstract : The recent availability Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) functionalities in relay technology has opened up new opportunities for power system protection, allowing this microprocessor-based technology to be used beyond traditional protection purposes. This technology now also considers the computation and communication mechanisms that allow the transmission of synchronized phasor measurements. READ MORE
