  1. 1. Mechanistic-Empirical Modelling of Flexible Pavement Performance : Verifications Using APT Measurements

    Author : Abubeker W. Ahmed; Sigurdur Erlingsson; Hervè Di Benedetto; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Performance; Deformation; Model not math ; Rutting wheel ; Viscoelasticity; Elasticity; Axle load; Flexible pavement; Laboratory not an organization ; Test; Thesis; Heavy vehicle simulator; Wheel tracking test; 32 Road: Pavement design; 32 Road: Pavement design; Transportvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Abstract : Mechanistic-Empirical  (M-E)  pavement  design  procedures  are  composed  of  a  reliable  response model to estimate the state of stress in the pavement and distress models in order to predict the different types of pavement distresses due to the prevailing traffic and environmental conditions. One of the main objectives of this study was to develop a response model based on multilayer elastic  theory   (MLET)  with  improved  computational  performance  by   optimizing  the   time consuming parts of the MLET processes. 2. 2. Machine Learning Survival Models : Performance and Explainability

    Author : Abdallah Alabdallah; Mattias Ohlsson; Thorsteinn Rögnvaldsson; Sepideh Pashami; Erik Frisk; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Survival Analysis; Explainable Artificial Intelligence; Survival Patterns; Counterfactual Explanations; Evaluation Metrics; Concordance Index;

    Abstract : Survival analysis is an essential statistics and machine learning field in various critical applications like medical research and predictive maintenance. In these domains understanding models' predictions is paramount. READ MORE

  3. 3. The role of microclimate for the performance and distribution of forest plants

    Author : C. Johan Dahlberg; Kristoffer Hylander; Johan Ehrlén; Jason D. Fridley; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; performance; microclimate; spatial scales; continental; landscape; distribution patterns; distribution limits; phenology; vegetative development; reproductive development; vital rates; population growth rate; vascular plants; bryophytes; distribution modelling; Plant Ecology; växtekologi;

    Abstract : Microclimatic gradients may have large influence on individual vital rates and population growth rates of species, and limit their distributions. Therefore, I focused on the influence of microclimate on individual performance and distribution of species. READ MORE

  4. 4. Borehole Thermal Energy Storage Systems for Storage of Industrial Excess Heat : Performance Evaluation and Modelling

    Author : Emil Nilsson; Patrik Rohdin; Maria Andersson; Mathias Cehlin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Improving industrial energy efficiency is considered an important factor in reducing carbon dioxide emissions and counteract climate change. For many industrial companies in cold climates, heat generated at the site in summer will not be needed to fulfil the site heat demand during this time, and is thus removed to the outdoor air. 5. 5. Performance Measurement Systems in Swedish Health Care Services

    Author : Beata Kollberg; Jens Jörn Dahlgaard; Per-Olof Brehmer; Evert Gummesson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Quality management; Health care; Performance measurement; Innovation management; Qualitative research; Health and medical services in society; Hälso- och sjukvård i samhället;

    Abstract : In the quality management literature, measurements are attributed great importance in improving products and processes. Systems for performance measurement assessing financial and non-financial measurements were developed in the late 1980s and early 1990s. READ MORE
