  1. 1. Biodiversity in environmental assessment tools for impact prediction

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Mikael Gontier; KTH.; [2005]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Environmental technology; Environmental impact assessment; Strategic environmental assessment; Biodiversity assessment; Prediction tools; GIS; GIS-base ecological models; Miljöteknik; TECHNOLOGY Other technology Environmental engineering; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Övriga teknikvetenskaper Miljöteknik;

    Abstract : Urbanisation and infrastructure developments impact on the surrounding natural environment and threaten biodiversity. The fragmentation of natural habitats in particular is a major obstacle for the preservation of biodiversity in a long-term perspective. READ MORE

  2. 2. Population-based prediction of atrial fibrillation

    University dissertation from Lund University

    Author : Gustav Smith; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2012]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; atrial fibrillation; prediction; epidemiology; genetics; natriuretic peptide; heart failure;

    Abstract : Abstract in Undetermined Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia and increases in prevalence. As AF confers increased risk of morbidity, stroke, dementia and mortality, a major objective of cardiovascular epidemiology today is the development of tools for prediction and prevention of AF and its consequences. 3. 3. A Study in RNA Bioinformatics Identification, Prediction and Analysis

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Eva Freyhult; Uppsala universitet.; [2007]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RNA; bioinformatics; secondary structure; structure prediction; dynamic programming; energy landscape; homology search; sequence logo; tRNA; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry Theoretical chemistry Bioinformatics; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi Teoretisk kemi Bioinformatik;

    Abstract : Research in the last few decades has revealed the great capacity of the RNA molecule. RNA, which previously was assumed to play a main role only as an intermediate in the translation of genes to proteins, is today known to play many important roles in the cell in addition to that as a messenger RNA and transfer RNA, including the ability to catalyze reactions and gene regulations at various levels. 4. 4. Vibrations in Lightweight Buildings - Perception and Prediction

    University dissertation from Lund University. Department of construction science

    Author : Juan Negreira; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2013]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Psycho-vibratory evaluation; Vibrations; Timber floors; Lightweight; Measurements; Serviceability criteria; Vibration annoyance; Vibration acceptability; Elastomer; Finite element method; Prediction Tools.;

    Abstract : When the Swedish construction code (in 1994) allowed wooden multi-storey buildings to be built, this type of lightweight construction became popular due to its low cost and ease of construction, and also because wood is a plentiful resource in Sweden. Drawbacks in such buildings are disturbing vibrations and noise propagating in the construction, especially through junctions. READ MORE

  5. 5. Vibroacoustic performance of wooden buildings : Prediction and Perception

    University dissertation from Engineering Acoustics, LTH, Lund University

    Author : Juan Negreira; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2016-04-27]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Prediction tools; Low frequency vibrations; Vibroacoustics; Wooden buildings; Impact sound insulation; Finite element method; Vibration measurements; Flanking transmission; Elastomers; Design indicators; Vibration acceptability; Vibration annoyance; MEMS accelerometers;

    Abstract : When the Swedish building regulations in 1994 allowed wooden multi-storey buildings to be built, this type of lightweight construction became popular due to its low cost and ease of construction, as well as wood being a plentiful resource in Sweden. However, complaints amid inhabitants are often reported due to nuisances caused by disturbing vibrations and noise propagating in the building. READ MORE
