1. Experimental Studies of Primary Break-up of Diesel Engine Fuel Injector Sprays
Abstract : This thesis will focus on experimental studies of primary breakup of pressure-atomized sprays. The industrial application that this thesis will address is fuel sprays in modern Diesel engines, and so the focus will be sprays emitting into relatively slow-moving, high pressure, high-temperature gases. 2. Traces in Earth's geological record of the break-up of the L-chondrite parent body 470 Ma
Abstract : This thesis deals with signatures in sediments on Earth related to the L-chondrite parent body break-up event at 470 Ma. The aim of this thesis is twofold: (1) investigate if the increased flux of extraterrestrial material to Earth, following the disruption of the L-chondrite parent body included larger, asteroid-sized bodies (2) try to develop new methods and tools for finding and classifying relict cosmic material in sediments. 3. Measurement and evaluation of near-field spray kinematics for nozzles with asymmetrical inlet geometries
Abstract : In diesel engines, fuel injection parameters have a commanding effect on mixing and combustion quality. This research aims to enhance the fundamental knowledge of fuel sprays and their primary break-up. In addition, this research provides statistical data to validate simulation models and improve the prediction accuracy in mixing and combustion. READ MORE

4. Visual outcome, ocular findings, and visual processing skills after allogeneic stem cell transplantation in children
Abstract : Background: Stem cell transplantation (SCT) offers a chance of cure in children with leukaemia and other life-threatening haematological, immunological, and metabolic diseases that do not respond to conventional treatment. Pre and post SCT, these children receive irradiation, and/or chemotherapy and immunosuppressive agents which like the primary disease may adversely affect the eye, the central nervous system as well as the posterior visual pathways and potentially threaten vision. 5. Magnetic anisotropy and paleomagnetism of precambrian rocks in the Fennoscandian shield
Abstract : This thesis presents three applications of the anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) technique, dealing with tectonic and magmatic flow fabrics of Proterozoic igneous rocks in the central and northern parts of the Fennoscandian Shield. Paleomagnetic measurements were performed in attempts to put the different rock units into a geological and plate tectonic context. READ MORE
