  1. 1. Primary Hyperparathyroidism A Study of Cardiovascular Dysfunction and its Reversibility After Parathyroidectomy

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Inga-Lena Nilsson; Uppsala universitet.; [2001]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medical sciences; primary hyperparathyroidism; vascular endothelium; heart; heart rate variability; blood pressure; parathyroidectomy; calcium; parathyroid hormone; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Abstract : Cardiovascular risk in primary hyperparathyroidism (HPT) is controversial, and studies mainly from Europe associate HPT with increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Cardiovascular morphology and function were evaluated prospectively in 31 consecutive HPT patients (mean serum calcium 2.97±0. READ MORE

  3. 3. Primary osteoarthrosis in guinea pigs

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, false

    Author : Edin de Bri; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [1996]

    Abstract : The course of primary osteoarthrosis (OA) in Hartley guinea pigs, which spontaneously develop OA in their knee joints, was studied by stereology (quantitative morphology). Between 6 and 12 months of age, structural changes similar to those of human OA developed, predominantly in the central (non meniscus- covered) medial condyle, while the lateral condyle remained unaffected. 4. 4. On the treatment of tibial fractures using the Ilizarov fixator

    University dissertation from Göteborg : University of Gothenburg

    Author : Telmo Oliveira Ramos; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2014]

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to analyse the results of the Ilizarov method in patients with different types of tibial fracture and compare them with conventional methods, in terms of primary union, complication rates, post-operative function, quality of life, and how the patients´ gait was affected during rehabilitation. Fifty-eight patients with isolated diaphyseal fractures (Study I) were randomised to treatment with either the Ilizarov method (IL) or locked intramedullary nailing (IM). READ MORE

  5. 5. Ice load prediction for design of ice-going ships for inland waterways
