  1. 1. Optimization of track geometry maintenance : a study of track geometry degradation to specify optimal inspection intervals

    Author : Iman Arasteh khouy; Per-Olof Larsson-Kråik; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Drift och underhållsteknik; Operation and Maintenance;

    Abstract : Railway infrastructure is a complex system which comprises different subsystems. Long useful life span is one of the important aspects of this prime mode of transport. The useful life length of its assets is highly dependent on the maintenance and renewal strategy used during its life cycle. READ MORE

  2. 2. Cost-effective maintenance of railway track geometry : a shift from safety limits to maintenance limits

    Author : Iman Arasteh Khouy; Peter Veit; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Drift och underhållsteknik; Operation and Maintenance Engineering;

    Abstract : Railway infrastructure is a complex system which comprises different subsystems. Long life span is one of the important aspects of this prime mode of transport. However, the useful life of its assets is highly dependent on the maintenance and renewal strategy used during the assets’ life cycle. READ MORE

  3. 3. Measurements and analysis of electromagnetic interferences in the Swedish railway systems

    Author : Stefan Niska; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Drift och underhållsteknik; Operation and Maintenance;

    Abstract : Presently, the existing failure reporting system at Banverket (the Swedish Rail Administration), which handles reports on the failures of the railway infrastructures and possible causes of failure, is not optimum (or most suitable) when it comes to analysis of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)- related failures and causes. This failure reporting system is reliant on correct reporting into the system, so that the right information can be sent back to the users, the maintenance and service personnel, in real time. 4. 4. EMC in railway systems : measurements, modeling and analysis

    Author : Stefan Niska; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Drift och underhållsteknik; Operation and Maintenance;

    Abstract : The subject of this study and resulting thesis was to investigate the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) problems in the multi-electrical signaling circuitry along a railway track. These signaling systems have been expanding over time from buried multi-wired electrical copper cables to optical fiber cables, sometimes located parallel to the contact line in the catenaries. 5. 5. Local Environment at Stake : The Hallandsås Railway Tunnel in a Social and Cultural Context

    Author : Annelie Sjölander-Lindqvist; Humanekologi; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hydraulic engineering; offshore technology; soil mechanics; Civil engineering; ethnology; Cultural anthropology; groundwater; environmental impact; landscape; Facility siting; local community; Hallandsås railway tunnel; Väg- och vattenbyggnadsteknik; etnologi; Kulturantropologi;

    Abstract : A major trend in facility siting research focuses on economic and psychological aspects of land-use regarding the location of potentially hazardous technological facilities including storage for high-level radioactive waste, landfills, chemical plants, large-scale dams, or waste incinerators. Such facilities frequently have profound environmental impact and are often understood by local citizens as intrusions on their environment that threaten landscape, place, and community. READ MORE
