  1. 21. An Operational View on Foaming and Slopping Control in Top-blown BOS Vessels

    Author : Mats Brämming; Henrik Saxén; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process Metallurgy; Processmetallurgi;

    Abstract : Slag formation plays a decisive role in all steelmaking processes. In top-blowing Basic Oxygen Steelmaking (BOS) i.e., in the LD process, an emulsion consisting of liquid slag, dispersed metal droplets, undissolved particles and solid precipitates will, together with process gases, form an expanding foam. 2. 22. Fundamental Studies on Direct Chromium Alloying by Chromite Ore with Designed Alloying Precursor

    Author : Xianfeng Hu; Timo Fabritsius; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process Metallurgy; Processmetallurgi;

    Abstract : Chromium is an important alloying element for stainless steels and other Cr-bearing steels. During the steelmaking process chromium is added to the steels mainly in the form of ferrochrome, which is largely produced by the energy-intensive smelting reduction process of chromite ore in the submerged arc furnace. 3. 23. Hydrometallurgical upgrading of a tetrahedrite-rich copper concentrate

    Author : Samuel Ayowole Awe; Gouzhu Ye; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process Metallurgy; Processmetallurgi;

    Abstract : Removal of impurity elements in copper metallurgy is one of the major problems encountered today since pure copper ore reserves are becoming exhausted and the resources of unexploited ores often contain relatively high amounts of antimony, arsenic, mercury and bismuth, which need to be eliminated. The present work aims at pre-treating a tetrahedrite rich complex copper sulphide concentrate by selective dissolution of the impurities, therefore, upgrading it for pyrometallurgical processing. 4. 24. Antimony recovery from complex copper concentrates through hydro- and electrometallurgical processes

    Author : Samuel Ayowole Awe; Olof Forsén; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process Metallurgy; Processmetallurgi;

    Abstract : Today, one of the major difficulties confronted during copper metallurgy is the elimination of antimony and arsenic impurities from the process. This is because the pure copper ore reserves are becoming exhausted and the resources of unexploited ores often contain relatively high amounts of antimony and arsenic. READ MORE

  5. 25. Influence of Oxygen Enrichment on the Oxidation of a Magnetite Pellet Bed During Pot Furnace Induration

    Author : Anna Eriksson; Charlotte Andersson; Hesham Ahmed; Timo Fabritius; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Oxygen enrichment; Magnetite pellet bed; Oxidation; Pot furnace; Induration; Fossil-free ironmaking; Process Metallurgy; Processmetallurgi;

    Abstract : This study was motivated by the excess oxygen that likely results from the current transition to hydrogen-based Swedish steel production. The potential usability of large amounts of oxygen in a process gas for iron ore pellet induration could improve the process efficiency in terms of fuel consumption and productivity. READ MORE
