  1. 1. Resource Allocation under Uncertainty : Applications in Mobile Communications

    Author : Mathias Johansson; Anders Ahlén; Mikael Sternad; Vikram Krishnamurthy; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signalbehandling; resource allocation; uncertainty; probability theory as logic; scheduling; multiuser diversity; Jaynes; maximum entropy; Bayesian probability theory; Signalbehandling; Signal processing; Signalbehandling; Signal Processing; signalbehandling;

    Abstract : This thesis is concerned with scheduling the use of resources, or allocating resources, so as to meet future demands for the entities produced by the resources. We consider applications in mobile communications such as scheduling users' transmissions so that the amount of transmitted information is maximized, and scenarios in the manufacturing industry where the task is to distribute work among production units so as to minimize the number of missed orders. 2. 2. Revenue Maximization in Resource Allocation : Applications in Wireless Communication Networks

    Author : Nilo Casimiro Ericsson; Anders Ahlén; Mikael Sternad; Jens Zander; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signalbehandling; wireless; resource; scheduling; revenue; admission control; service level control; service level agreement; Signalbehandling; Signal processing; Signalbehandling; Signal Processing; signalbehandling;

    Abstract : Revenue maximization for network operators is considered as a criterion for resource allocation in wireless cellular networks. A business model encompassing service level agreements between network operators and service providers is presented. READ MORE

  3. 3. Creating market knowledge from big data: Artificial intelligence and human resources

    Author : Jeannette Paschen; Esmail Salehi-Sangari; Stefanie Paluch; KTH; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Market knowledge; insights; big data; artificial intelligence; resource-based theory; resources; capabilities; machine learning; natural language processing; Marknadskunskap; insikter; big data; artificiell intelligens; resursbaserad teori; resurser; kapacitet; machine learning maskininlärning ; natural language processing naturlig språkbearbetning .; Industriell ekonomi och organisation; Industrial Economics and Management;

    Abstract : The abundance of social media use and the rise of the Internet-of-Things (IoT) has given rise to big data which offer great potential for enhanced market knowledge for marketers. In the literature, market knowledge has been associated with positive marketing performance. READ MORE

  4. 4. Spectral Analysis of Nonuniformly Sampled Data and Applications

    Author : Prabhu Babu; Peter Stoica; Fredrik Gustafsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Spectral analysis; array processing; nonuniform sampling; sparse parameter estimation; direction of arrival DOA estimation; covariance fitting; sinusoidal parameter estimation; maximum-likelihood; non-parametric approach; exoplanet detection; radial velocity technique; Sudoku; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Signal Processing; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot signalbehandling;

    Abstract : Signal acquisition, signal reconstruction and analysis of spectrum of the signal are the three most important steps in signal processing and they are found in almost all of the modern day hardware. In most of the signal processing hardware, the signal of interest is sampled at uniform intervals satisfying some conditions like Nyquist rate. READ MORE

  5. 5. Spaceborne SAR in Sea Ice Monitoring: Algorithm Development and Validation for the Baltic Sea

    Author : Anders Berg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; synthetic aperture radar; ice drift; sea ice; ice type; ice concentration;

    Abstract : The usefulness of new spaceborne synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) sensors at L-, C-, and X-band for operational sea ice monitoring in the Baltic Sea has been evaluated. It is concluded that the information content in C-band and X-band data is largely equivalent, although larger spatial coverage is an advantage of the current C-band satellites. READ MORE
