  1. 1. Large-Scale Graphene Production for Environmentally Friendly and Low-Cost Energy Storage : Production, Coating, and Applications

    Author : Nicklas Blomquist; Håkan Olin; Renyun Zhang; Christina Dahlström; Patrik Johansson; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Graphene; Energy storage; Supercapacitors; EDLC;

    Abstract : There is great demand for energy-efficient, environmentally sustainable, and cost-effective electrical energy storage devices. One important aspect of this demand is the need for automotive electrification to achieve more energy-efficient transportation at a reasonable cost, thus supporting a fossil-fuel free society. 2. 2. Hydrogen in the European energy system - The cost dynamics and the value of time-shifting electricity generation

    Author : Simon Öberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cost; energy systems modeling; Hydrogen; gas turbine; system dynamics; time-shifting;

    Abstract : If the European Union is to become climate-neutral by Year 2050, as envisioned in the European Green Deal, the European energy system must undergo an unprecedented transformation towards eliminating its carbon emissions. For this transition, renewable electricity plays a central role, not only in replacing the current fossil-based electricity generation, but also in promoting the electrification of other sectors, such as transport and industry, sectors which are currently based on fossil fuels. 3. 3. Ethanol from Sugarcane Lignocellulosic Residues - Opportunities for Process Improvement and Production Cost Reduction

    Author : Stefano Macrelli; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Bioethanol from sugarcane is a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels, and the increasing demand for fuel ethanol has prompted studies on the use of the lignocellulosic residues of sugarcane, namely bagasse and leaves, as new feedstock. This thesis describes various process designs and the economic feasibility of producing second generation (2G) ethanol from bagasse and leaves via the enzymatic route in an integrated sugarcane biorefinery, where first-generation (1G) ethanol is produced from sugarcane sugar. 4. 4. Cost-Effective Pathways for Gasification-Based Production of Biofuels

    Author : Johan Ahlström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biomethane; power-to-gas; Biorefinery; SNG; heat integration; bark; Gasification; sawmill; hydrogen;

    Abstract : A considerable number of studies indicate that biomethane produced through gasification of lignocellulosic biomass could contribute significantly to greenhouse gas emissions reduction in the transport sector. However, the production costs are high compared to fossil-based alternatives, which has limited deployment of the technology. READ MORE

  5. 5. Surface Characteristics of Water Atomized Pre-alloyed Steel Powders and their effect on Sintering

    Author : Dimitris Chasoglou; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Abstract : Powder Metallurgy (PM) is an efficient method, in terms of cost and raw material utilization, for the production of structural parts that have strict dimensional tolerances and complex geometries. In the common processing route, steel powder is fabricated by water atomization and then pressed and sintered into the final component. READ MORE
