  1. 1. Prognostic Factors in Malignant Melanoma

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Universitetsbiblioteket

    Author : Åsa Bolander; Uppsala universitet.; [2008]
    Keywords : Malignant melanoma; prognostic factors; survival; chemotherapy; radiation;

    Abstract : Because of the failure so far to find effective treatment for patients with advanced stages of melanoma, increasing efforts have been made to find prognostic factors identifying patients in the risk zone for development of metastasis.This thesis investigates the prognostic powers of a few selected serological and immunohistochemical biomarkers. 2. 2. The Prognostic Impact of Proliferation Markers in Breast Cancer with Emphasis on Cyclin B1 and PPH3

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Anthoula Koliadi; Uppsala universitet.; [2014]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; proliferation; cyclin B1; Phosphorylated Histone 3; cyclin A; breast cancer; node negative; prognostic factor; luminal; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to investigate the prognostic role of the proliferation markers cyclin B1 and Phosphorylated Histone 3 (PPH3) in breast cancer (BC).In paper I we used an experimental study design, we compared women dying early from their BC with women free from relapse more than eight years after initial diagnosis. 3. 3. Prognostic markers and DNA methylation profiling in lymphoid malignancies

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Sujata Bhoi; Uppsala universitet.; [2017]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lymphoid malignancies; CLL; MCL; prognostic markers; micro-RNA; methylation; stereotyped subsets;

    Abstract : In recent years, great progress has been achieved towards identifying novel biomarkers in lymphoid malignancies, including chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), at the genomic, transcriptomic and epigenomic level for accurate risk-stratification and prediction of treatment response. In paper I, we validated the prognostic relevance of a recently proposed RNA-based marker in CLL, UGT2B17, and analyzed its expression levels in 253 early-stage patients. READ MORE

  4. 4. Genomic and transcriptomic sequencing in chronic lymphocytic leukemia

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Diego Cortese; Uppsala universitet.; [2016]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; chronic; lymphocytic; leukemia; CLL; genomics; transcriptomics; DNA; RNA; mutations; NGS; whole-exome; sequencing; prognostic; markers; TP53; SF3B1; RPS15; relapse; stereotyped; subsets.;

    Abstract : Identification of recurrent mutations through next-generation sequencing (NGS) has given us a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms involved in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) development and progression and provided novel means for risk assessment in this clinically heterogeneous disease. In paper I, we screened a population-based cohort of CLL patients (n=364) for TP53, NOTCH1, SF3B1, BIRC3 and MYD88 mutations using Sanger sequencing, and confirmed the negative prognostic impact of TP53, SF3B1 or NOTCH1 aberrations, though at lower frequencies compared to previous studies. 5. 5. Diabetes mellitus and related glucometabolic disturbances in acute myocardial infarction Diagnosis, prevalence and prognostic implications

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Åke Tenerz; Uppsala universitet.; [2003]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Diabetes mellitus; impaired glucose tolerance; insulin resistance; prevalence; diagnosis; oral glucose tolerance test; acute myocardial infarction; prognosis; Medicin; MEDICINE Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; MEDICIN Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin; Medicine; medicin;

    Abstract : In patients with diabetes mellitus (DM), acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a major cause of death. We have studied two populations with respect to the relationship between DM or related glucometabolic disturbances and AMI. READ MORE
