  1. 16. Designing for Resource-Efficient Manual Work Activities at Hospital Care Units

    Author : Simon Hermansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Work activities; Design science research; Healthcare; Resource efficiency;

    Abstract : Although Swedish healthcare needs to increase productivity to become able to meet demand projected for the future, public healthcare in Sweden currently shows a downward trend in productivity. The research presented in this licentiate thesis aims to improve the resource efficiency of manual work activities performed in Sweden’s hospital care units and, in turn, contribute to increased productivity in the nation’s healthcare. 2. 17. Unlocking Potentials of Innovation Systems in Low Resource Settings

    Author : Julius Ecuru; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Cluster; Innovation; Innovation System; Low resource setting; Research; Science; Technology; Technoscience; Triple Helix; Uganda;

    Abstract : This study examined the dynamics, challenges and opportunities of developing innovation systems in low resource settings with a particular focus on Uganda. It applied perspectives of technoscience and concepts of innovation systems, triple helix as university-industry-government relationships, mode 2 knowledge production and situated knowledges in understanding the context, identifying key policy issues and suggesting ways to address them. 3. 18. Resource budgeting as a tool for reduced development cost for embedded real-time computer systems

    Author : Mattias Wecksten; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Real-time systems; Embedded; Resource budgeting; Design tool; Tightness optimization; Guarantees;

    Abstract : Wouldn’t it be great if there were a systematic method for derivation of non functional constraints available at design time that made it possible to verify design and make implementa tion a much clearer task? This kind of methods are needed since systems of increasing com plexity has to be developed, and the cost for failing has proven to bee too high. The problem is how to derive the design time constraints into implementation time constraints, maintaining the traceability for the individual constraints, and early on get indications whether a project is about to fail or not. 4. 19. Subsurface dams in water resource management : methods for assessment and location

    Author : Imran Ali Jamali; Bo Olofsson; Stephen Foster; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Subsurface dams; Groundwater; GIS; Regolith thickness; Groundwater; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Abstract : Natural groundwater storage can be improved by constructing a subsurface barrier that is a subsurface dam, in order to capture the subsurface flows and raise the groundwater levels (GWLs) in the sediment layers. Subsurface dams are preferable to surface dams because of lower evaporation, higher functionality, lower cost of construction, lessened risk for contamination and the possibility of utilizing land over the dam. 5. 20. Adaptive CPU Resource Management for Multicore Platforms

    Author : Vanessa Romero Segovia; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The topic of this thesis is adaptive CPU resource management for multicore platforms. The work was done as a part of the resource manager component of the adaptive resource management framework implemented in the European ACTORS project. The framework dynamically allocates CPU resources for the applications. READ MORE
