1. Reactions in the System Nitro-cellulose/ Diphenylamine with Special Reference to the Formation of a Stabilizing Product Bonded to Nitro-cellulose
Abstract : The methods HPLC, microcalorimetry and FTIR together with chemometry, provide good analytical tools to follow the degradation of nitro-cellulose.The degradation products formed from diphenylamine (DPA) during storage can be followed with HPLC. FTIR, together with chemometry, also gives the precision needed for safety control of propellants. READ MORE

2. Large Eddy Simulation of Complex Turbulent Flows
Abstract : This thesis concerns the Large Eddy Simulation methodology and its application to predict complex turbulent flows at high Reynolds numbers, and at times also with high Mach numbers. The meaning of the word ?complex? refers both to the presence of complex flow phenomena and the, often, complex geometry of man-made devices restricting the flow. READ MORE

3. High-Temperature Microfluidics for Space Propulsion
Abstract : In this thesis, microfabrication methods and tools for analysis of heated cold-gas microthrusters are presented, with the aim of improving their reliability and performance. Cold-gas thrusters operate by accelerating pressurized gas through a nozzle. READ MORE

4. Development of Microcomponents for Attitude and Communication Systems on Small Vehicles in Space and Extreme Environments
Abstract : In this thesis, components intended for vehicles in space and other extreme environments have been realized using microsystems technology to facilitate miniaturized, yet high-performing systems beneficial for small spacecraft and other vehicles with limited size and power.Cold gas thrusters commonly used on spacecraft basically accelerate a gaseous propellant stored under high pressure. 5. Improving the Mechanical Properties of Composite Rocket Propellants
Abstract : Solid composite rocket propellants usually contain ammoniumperchlorate embedded in an elastic polymer binder. The bindercan be based on a liquid prepolymer such as hydroxyl-terminatedpolybutadiene, HTPB, or poly(3-nitratomethyl-3-methyl oxetane,PolyNIMMO. READ MORE
