1. A New Look into Protein C Inhibitor : Posttranslational Modifications and their Functions
Abstract : The influences of posttranslational modifications on the functions of the versatile serpin protein C inhibitor (PCI) were studied. PCI is a serine protease inhibitor that is expressed in many tissues and secreted to various fluids in human, including blood plasma, seminal plasma, and urine. READ MORE

2. Vitamin K-dependent protein S - studies of synthesis, structure and function
Abstract : This thesis is based on four projects with the overall aim to investigate vitamin K-dependent protein S functions in relation to its structure. The anticoagulant functions of protein S can be divided in three: 1) cofactor for activated protein C (APC), 2) cofactor for tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI) and 3) APC and TFPI-independent anticoagulant functions. 3. Interaction of Triglyceride-rich Lipoproteins with Platelets and Vitamin K-dependent Coagulation Factors
Abstract : 1. During incubation of platelets with 3H-arachidonic acid (20:4, n-6) and 14C-cholesterol doubly labelled and colloidal gold labelled chylomicrons (CMs) and chylomicron remnants (CMRs) CMs were taken up more efficiently than CMRs. Addition of unlabelled CMs, VLDLs, LDLs and HDLs decreased the uptake of labelled CMs. READ MORE

4. Amyloid Beta – Biotherapy Target and Biotechnological Tool
Abstract : Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disease characterized primarily by memory impairment and cognitive decline. As of 2020, an estimated 50 million people suffer from Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia and no disease-modifying treatment options are yet approved for clinical practice. READ MORE

5. Amyloid β-protein, Cystatin C and Cathepsin B as Biomarkers of Alzheimer's Disease
Abstract : It is suggested that Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is caused by an imbalance between production, degradation and clearance of the amyloid-β (Aβ) protein. This imbalance leads to aggregation of Aβ and tau proteins and neurodegeneration in the brain. READ MORE
