  1. 11. Biological Aspects of Peripartum Depression

    Author : Åsa Edvinsson; Inger Sundström Poromaa; Helena Åkerud; Jocelien Olivier; Charlotte Hellgren; Isis Amer-Wåhlin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Peripartum depression; antenatal depression; postpartum depression; antidepressant treatment; selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor; SSRI; pregnancy; postpartum; attentional bias; Emotional Stroop Task; inflammatory markers; proximity extension assay; placenta; gene expression; TaqMan low-density array; protein expression; immunohistochemistry; HTR1A; NPY2R;

    Abstract : Peripartum depression affects around 12% of women in pregnancy and postpartum, and about 2–3% of European pregnant women use antidepressants, mostly selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). An increased risk of poor pregnancy outcomes has been described in women with antenatal depression and SSRI treatment during pregnancy. READ MORE

  2. 12. Dried blood sampling and digital readout to advance molecular diagnostics

    Author : Johan Björkesten; Ulf Landegren; Björn Högberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; molecular diagnostics; dried blood sample; DBS; digital readout; digital enumeration; DNA detection methods; proximity extension assay; protein stability; genotyping; rare mutations; cell free DNA; multiplex protein measurement.; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Abstract : A drastically increased capacity to measure large sets of molecular features in numerous patient samples in great detail will be required to fulfill the vision of precision medicine and wellness, which may characterize molecular diagnostics in the 21st century. Also sampling procedures need a renaissance to permit continuous sampling at population levels at reasonable cost. READ MORE

  3. 13. Seasonal aspects of peripartum depressive symptoms

    Author : Hanna E. Henriksson; Alkistis Skalkidou; Fotios Papadopoulos; Sara M Sylvén; Stavros I Iliadis; Lauren M. Osborne; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : peripartum depressive symptoms; pregnancy; postpartum; seasonality; meteorological parameters; inflammatory markers; proximity extension assay; metabolomics; gas chromatography-mass spectrometry;

    Abstract : Every year, a large proportion of pregnant and newly delivered women develop peripartum depression, a condition that may cause long-term suffering for the entire family. Although there is a lack of consensus, some studies propose an association between season and the risk of developing depression during pregnancy and the postpartum period. READ MORE

  4. 14. The Histidine-rich Glycoprotein in Reproduction

    Author : Karin E Lindgren; Inger Sundström-Poromaa; Helena Åkerud; Eva Wiberg-Itzel; Lalit Kumar Parameswaran Grace; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Angiogenesis; embryo culture medium; embryogenesis; embryonic secretome; endometrium; histidine-rich glycoprotein; human embryo development; human embryo implantation; human endometrial endothelial cells; in vitro fertilisation; infertility; male infertility; proximity extension assay; recurrent miscarriage; single nucleotide polymorphism; sperm quality; time-lapse technique; vascular endothelial growth factor;

    Abstract : Infertility affects 15% of reproductive-aged couples. The milieu surrounding the growing embryo is of outmost importance, and should be optimised during in vitro fertilisation (IVF). Many biological processes, such as angiogenesis, coagulation, and immune processes need to be well regulated for a pregnancy to occur and progress normally. READ MORE

  5. 15. Studies on inflammation in the acute phase of aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

    Author : Pavlos Vlachogiannis; Elisabeth Ronne-Engström; Lars Hillered; Johan Wikström; Bo-Michael Bellander; Uppsala universitet; []
