  1. 11. Bank branches and Entrepreneurship : A spatial analysis of new firm formation in Swedish regions and industries in a changing financial landscape

    Author : Cynthia Sin Tian Ho; Björn Berggren; Mikaela Backman; KTH; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; New firm formation; entrepreneurship; financing; bank branches; proximity; spatial analysis; GWR; Sweden; Business Studies; Företagsekonomi;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis is to analyse how bank branch closure has affected the formation of new firms and to explore the varying local relationships between the accessibility of bank branches and new firm formation in 290 Swedish municipalities. In the first paper, the effect of bank branch closure is examined through spatial econometric analysis, in particular, the fixed effects and the random effects spatial panel models. READ MORE

  2. 12. Disentangling clusters : agglomeration and proximity effects

    Author : Göran Lindqvist; Handelshögskolan i Stockholm; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Clusters are spatial agglomerations of firms in related industries. Although industry clusters have existed for centuries, the cluster concept has only recently been formulated in economic terms and has begun to attract considerable interest from scholars and policymakers over the last 20 years. 3. 13. A kinetic study of metabolite transfer in coupled two-enzyme reactions

    Author : Henrik Pettersson; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metabolism; Free diffusion; Enzyme kinetics; Channelling; Dehydrogenase; Fusion protein; Biochemistry; Proximity effect; metabolism; Biokemi;

    Abstract : There are two fundamentally different ways by which a metabolite can be transferred between enzymes in metabolic pathways. If the two sequential enzymes cannot form a complex with each other, the metabolite must first be released from the producing enzyme to the reaction medium and then be transported to the consuming enzyme, via the reaction medium, by free diffusion. 5. 15. Silicon Nanowire Field-Effect Devices as Low-Noise Sensors

    Author : Xi Chen; Zhen Zhang; Shi-Li Zhang; Si Chen; Fengnian Xia; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Silicon nanowire; field-effect transistor; Schottky junction gate; low frequency noise; ion sensor; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektronik; Engineering Science with specialization in Electronics;

    Abstract : In the past decades, silicon nanowire field-effect transistors (SiNWFETs) have been explored for label-free, highly sensitive, and real-time detections of chemical and biological species. The SiNWFETs are anticipated for sensing analyte at ultralow concentrations, even at single-molecule level, owing to their significantly improved charge sensitivity over large-area FETs. READ MORE
