8. Ten-year outcome of anorexia nervosa with teenage onset
Abstract : Objectives: To study prospectively the relatively long-term outcome in a representative sample of teenage onset anorexia nervosa (AN) in respect of overall outcome, physical health, psychiatric disorders, and personality disorders and to investigate familial factors among first-degree relatives. Method: A group of 51 cases (48 female, 3 male) with AN, recruited by community screening (including the total AN population (minus one individual) from one birth cohort), with a mean age of onset of 14 years, was contrasted with an age-, sex-, and school-matched group of 51 comparison cases on various measures of outcome at a mean age of 24 years (10 years after reported AN onset). Abstract : Background: Psychiatric symptoms such as fatigue, concentration and memory difficulties, anxiety, and depressiveness are frequently reported after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) and in various other neurological diseases. These symptoms may indicate the presence of organic psychiatric disorders (OPDs), such as the Astheno-Emotional (AE-) disorder, of anxiety or depressive disorders, or both, but psychiatric classification and differentiation between such disorders have seldom been used in follow-up studies of neurological disease. 10. Suicides, psychotic disorders and criminality among former child and adolescent psychiatric patients followed into adulthood
Abstract : The overall aim was to provide information about child and adolescent psychiatric (CAP) patients and their outcome as adults: Were their difficulties in childhood due to mental illness, disablement and/or behaviour disorders? What happened to them as adults? Who were the patients in need of psychiatric care (GenP) in adulthood that had not had previous contact with CAP? Did this group differ from the former CAP group? Methods: Paper I-III: 1,400 CAP patients admitted 1975-1990 to inpatient or outpatient CAP care in Jämtland County, Sweden were followed until 2003. Paper IV: A sample of 167 GenP patients not treated in CAP was compared to GenP patients with a history of CAP care. READ MORE
