  1. 16. High-Tc SQUIDs for biomedical applications: immunoassays, MEG, and ULF-MRI

    Author : Fredrik Öisjöen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis describes high transition temperature superconducting quantum interference devices (high-Tc SQUIDs) for magnetic immunoassays (MIAs), magnetoencephalography (MEG) and ultra-low field magnetic resonance imaging (ULF-MRI).High-Tc dc SQUID sensors were fabricated in single layers of YBa2Cu3O7−δ deposited by pulsed laser deposition and patterned using photolithography on 10×10 mm2 SrTiO3 bicrystal substrates. 2. 17. Developing novel diffusion MRI methods for comprehensive analysis of restricted and anisotropic self-diffusion system

    Author : Hong Jiang; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MRI; diffusion; tissue microstructure; heterogeneity; diffusion encoding; q-vector; ;

    Abstract : Diffusion MRI is a non-invasive imaging technique used to study the microstructural properties of biological tissues by observing the self-diffusion of water molecules. Traditional diffusion MRI methods, based on the pulsed gradient spin-echo sequence, employ magnetic field gradients to encode information about translational motion. READ MORE

  3. 18. Association Phenomena in Aqueous Solutions of Surfactants and Hydrophobically Modified Polymers

    Author : Susanne Nilsson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; self-diffusion; rheology; cellulose ethers; associating polymers; polymer-surfactant interactions; polymer network; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry;

    Abstract : Interactions between ionic surfactants (sodium dodecyl sulfate and dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride) and nonionic polymers ((hydroxyethyl)cellulose, ethyl(hydroxyethyl)cellulose and their hydrophobically modified analogous) have been studied by means of rheology, pulsed field gradient nuclear magnetic resonance (PFG NMR), time-resolved fluorescence quenching (TRFQ), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and cryo-transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM). In all experiments surfactants have been added in various amounts to polymer solutions at fixed concentrations. READ MORE
