  1. 1. Convergence Analysis and Design of Multiple Concatenated Codes

    Author : Fredrik Brännström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; extrinsic information transfer EXIT function; convergence analysis; Multiple concatenated codes; code search; scheduling; parameter estimation; iterative decoding; EXIT chart; puncturing;

    Abstract : The objective of this thesis is to develop a methodology for designing efficient multiple concatenated coding schemes, consisting of two or more constituent codes, concatenated in serial or in parallel. Extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) analysis is found to be a suitable and versatile analysis tool for such codes and thus, the design methodology is based almost entirely on this technique. Abstract : In recent years the number of connected devices and the demand for high data-rates have been significantly increased. This enormous growth is more pronounced by the introduction of the Internet of things (IoT) in which several devices are interconnected to exchange data for various applications like smart homes and smart cities. 3. 3. Adaptive Concatenated Coding for Wireless Real-Time Communications

    Author : Elisabeth Uhlemann; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Incremental redundancy hybrid ARQ; Multiple concatenated codes; Iterative decoding; Rate compatible punctured codes; Union bounds; EXIT charts; Convergence analysis; Wireless real-time communication; Quality of service; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : The objective of this thesis is to improve the performance of real-time communication overa wireless channel, by means of specifically tailored channel coding. The deadlinedependent coding (DDC) communication protocol presented here lets the timeliness and thereliability of the delivered information constitute quality of service (QoS) parametersrequested by the application. Abstract : Intracellular bacteria have developed various mechanisms to enter and persist in host cells and, at the same time, to evade the host immune response. One such pathogen is Francisella tularensis, the etiological agent of tularemia. READ MORE

  5. 5. Multirate Codes and Multicarrier Modulation for Future Communication Systems

    Author : Pål Frenger; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; channel estimation; code-spread CDMA; DS-CDMA; convolutional codes; interference cancellation; nested convolutional codes; multicarrier modulation; optimum distance spectrum ODS ; rate-compatible punctured convolutional codes RCPC-codes ; OFDM; turbo decoding; rate matching; parallel combinatory signaling; Rayleigh fading;

    Abstract : In this thesis, new detection and modulation methods for multicarrier systems are presented. The proposed multicarrier detectors are based on feedback of previously detected symbols and the idea is to exploit the correlation, both in time between consecutive symbols, and in frequency between neighboring sub-carriers.
