  1. 1. Secondary chlorophyll a luminescence decay kinetics from green algae and higher plants : mechanisms and application

    Author : Lars-Göran Sundblad; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; luminescence; fluorescence; photosynthesis; far red; CO2 accumulation; S-states; QA; reverse coupling; qE; frost hardiness;

    Abstract : Barley protoplasts were shown to be a suitable experimental system for studies on the relative maximum during the decay of luminescence observed in most photosynthetic systems after excitation with far red light and in the presence of O2. The far red induced relative luminescencemaximum was shown to be a result of three coinciding events:*Randomization of the S-states of the water splitting system during illumination with far red light. 3. 3. Weighted Analysis of Microarray Experiments

    Author : Anders Sjögren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DNA microarray; differential expression; gene expression; quality control QC ; quality assurance QA ; quality assessment; generalised linear model; empirical Bayes; weighted moderated statistic; invalid p-value; heteroscedasticity; WAME; heteroscedasticity;

    Abstract : DNA microarrays are strikingly efficient tools for analysing gene expression for large sets of genes simultaneously. The aim is often to identify genes which are differentially expressed between some studied conditions, thereby gaining insight into which cellular mechanisms are differently active between the conditions. 4. 4. Cost-Benefit Analysis of climate policy and long term public investments

    Author : Disa Thureson; Lars Hultkrantz; Jan-Eric Nilsson; Robert Lundmark; Disa Asplund; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Social Cost of Carbon; Greenhous Gases; Distributional weights; Discounting; Cost benefit analysis; Elasticity of Marginal Utility of Consumption; Risk aversion; Economics; Nationalekonomi; Qa Economics and finance;

    Abstract : This compilation dissertation consists of four essays with the common theme of welfare analysis of long-term public investments. The first two essays focus on analysis of climate change mitigation, i.e., the social cost of carbon dioxide. READ MORE

  5. 5. The immunomodulatory properties of C-Med 100 an extract of the plant Uncaria tomentosa

    Author : Christina Silver; Diabetes - immunovirologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi; serology; Immunology; survival; proliferation; inhibition; NF-kB; Uncaria tomentosa; quinic acid;

    Abstract : Extracts from the bark of the vine Uncaria tomentosa have anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antimutagenic and antioxidant effects. In this study, we evaluate the effects of an Uncaria tomentosa extract, denoted C-Med 100, on the cellular level of the immune system both in vivo and in vitro. READ MORE
