1. Nonlinear Evolution in High Energy QCD
Abstract : QCD at very high energies is still not very well understood. Difficulties arise from a strong non-linear dynamics and also from nonperturbative physics. Detailed analytic calculations are often only possible either for simple toy models, or for asymptotically high energies. READ MORE

2. QCD Phenomenology of Heavy Particle Dynamics
Abstract : In this thesis the phenomenology of Quantum Chromo Dynamics (QCD) is studied in a variety of circumstances from both perturbative and non-perturbative perspectives. The main emphasis is on the production and hadronization of heavy particles, specifically heavy quarks, gauge bosons, leptoquarks and supersymmetric particles. READ MORE

3. Aspects of QCD and the Photon Structure
Abstract : In a single theoretical framework, real and virtual photon interactions are modeled for gamma-p and gamma-gamma collisions. The description covers aspects from the production of jets to total cross sections, where special emphasis is put on the range of uncertainty in the modeling of a resolved photon component. READ MORE

4. Diffraction in high-energy collisions
Abstract : This thesis concerns itself with low-momentum-transfer processes in high-energy particle collisions. These processes cannot be described in the framework of the fundamental theory of quantum chromodynamics (QCD), but rely on a pre-QCD approach, the Regge theory. READ MORE

5. Merging Parton Showers and Matrix Elements
Abstract : This thesis considers models for describing high energy particle collisions. Existing phenomonological models are modified and new implementations made in order to achive a better description of states with several hard jets. To predict final state hadrons, parton showers are used together with pheonomenological hadronization models. READ MORE
