  1. 1. Leveraging HVPE for III-V/Si Integration and Mid-Infrared Photonic Device Fabrication

    Author : Axel Strömberg; Yan-Ting Sun; Sebastian Lourdudoss; Mattias Hammar; Charles Cornet; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; HVPE; III-V Si; Photovoltaics; PEC; MIR; non-linear optics; QPM; QCL; Energiteknik; Energy Technology;

    Abstract : This work covers the implementation of highly specialized epitaxial techniques enabled by the near-equilibrium hydride vapor-phase epitaxy growth process in III-V/Si integration for Si-based tandem solar cells and photoelectrochemical reactions, quasi phase matching GaP structures on GaAs substrates, and regrowth of InP:Fe on quantum cascade lasing structures.III-V/Si integration is an important topic in several fields of research with a significant one being solar energy harvesting. 2. 2. Lineshape in Quantum Cascade Lasers - Temperature, Screening and Broadening

    Author : Rikard Nelander; Matematisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quantum Cascade Lasers; quantum wells; spectral lineshape; Non-Equilibrium Green s Functions; screening; temperature dependence;

    Abstract : This dissertation deals with the optical properties of Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCLs). Studies are performed using transport calculations employing the theory of Non-Equilibrium Green's Functions, and screening is studied within the Random Phase Approximation. Focus is put on the temperature dependent effects in THz QCLs. READ MORE

  3. 3. Modeling Quantum Cascade Lasers : The Challenge of Infra-Red Devices

    Author : Martin Franckie; Matematisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quantum Cascade Lasers; Non-equilibrium Green s functions; Modeling; semiconductor heterostructures; Quantum Cascade Lasers; Non-equilibrium Green s functions; THz radiation; infrared radiation; semiconductor heterostructures; Modeling Simulation Technology; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Franckié;

    Abstract : We live in a time of rapid scientific and technological advancement. People liv- ing 100 years ago could never dream of inventions like those having completely changed our way of life, and our perception of the world; computers, mobile phones, the Internet, space travel, unraveling the mysteries of the early universe and distant galaxies, and our insight into the microscopic world of quantum phe- nomena. 4. 4. Towards Novel AlGaN-Based Light Emitters

    Author : Martin Stattin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; AlGaN; light emitting diode; deep ultraviolet; III-Nitrides; near infrared; quantum cascade laser;

    Abstract : The unique properties of the AlGaN semiconductors make them a suitable choice for optoelectronic devices at both short and long wavelengths, based on interband and intersubband transitions, respectively. What sets AlGaN apart from other wide-bandgap semiconductors is the possibility to obtain both p- and n-type conductivity as well as the direct bandgap. READ MORE
