  1. 1. Quantum optics in constrained geometries

    Author : Björn Hessmo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quantum chemistry; quantum optics; atom optics; complementarity; magnetic traps; laser cooling; quantum information; quantal phases; Kvantkemi; Quantum chemistry; Kvantkemi; Quantum Chemistry; kvantkemi;

    Abstract : When light exhibits particle properties, and when matter exhibits wave properties quantum mechanics is needed to describe physical phenomena. A two-photon source produces nonmaximally entangled photon pairs when the source is small enough to diffract light. It is shown that diffraction degrades the entanglement. READ MORE

  2. 2. Sub-Cycle Control of Strong-Field Processes on the Attosecond Timescale

    Author : Stefanos Carlström; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High-order harmonic generation; Quantum path interference; Coherence; Fysicumarkivet A:2017:Carlström;

    Abstract : This PhD thesis deals with the sub-cycle nature of ultrafast phenomena that occur in strong-field light–matter interactions. As it is of interest to control these phenomena, we must understand them in order to manipulate them. The tools at our disposal are intense laser pulses of short duration, and the systems we study are atoms. READ MORE

  3. 3. Control of Coherent Extreme Ultraviolet Light and Light Sources

    Author : Neven Ibrakovic; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ultrafast lasers; XUV optics; high-order harmonic generation; quantum path interference; opto-optical modulation; free electron lasers; nitrogen lasing; Fysicumarkivet A:2019:Ibrakovic;

    Abstract : Coherent extreme ultraviolet (XUV) light sources are necessary for the investigation of physical processes in the natural length and time scales of atoms. These experiments require a high degree of control of the coherent XUV light. READ MORE

  4. 4. Generation and detection of non-classical photon states

    Author : Katarina Stensson; Gunnar Björk; Guilherme Xavier; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum optics; optical coherence; photon statistics; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis intends to familiarize the reader with the concepts of photon statistics and correlations in quantum optics. Developing light sources that emit quantum states is central for the realization of quantum technologies. READ MORE

  5. 5. Optimization of High-order Harmonic Generation for Attosecond Science

    Author : Robin Weissenbilder; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High-order Harmonic Generation; Attosecond Pulse Train; attosecond dynamics; photoelectron interferometry; Quantum state tomography; Phase matching; Fysicumarkivet A:2023:Weissenbilder;

    Abstract : High-order harmonic generation is a highly nonlinear, though inherently inefficient, process which can lead to emission of coherent, broadband extreme ultraviolet radiation in the form of attosecond pulses. Attosecond pulses are crucial for experiments investigating photoionization dynamics on the femto- and attosecond timescales. READ MORE
