  1. 1. Linear and Nonlinear Transport in Quantum Nanostructures

    Author : Anneli Löfgren; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; magnetoconductance; mesoscopic; electron billiard; quantum dot; quantum ratchets; non-linear; symmetries; non-symmetric conduction; rectification; artificial material; Halvledarfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2002:Löfgren; ballistic transport; quantum transport; 2DEG; Semiconductory physics; InP InGaAs; GaAs AlGaAs;

    Abstract : In this thesis, electron transport in mesoscopic semiconductor nanostructures, in particular so-called electron billiards or quantum dots, is studied. The thesis can be divided into two areas: the linear response regime of transport, and the nonlinear response regime of transport. READ MORE

  2. 2. Quantal trajectories and geometric phase

    Author : Henrik Carlsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quantum chemistry; Kvantkemi; Quantum chemistry; Kvantkemi; Quantum Chemistry; kvantkemi;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the following topics: geometric phase in the context of Galilean invariance and quantum measurements, Rydberg states of hydrogen atoms, vibronic coupling in the E Ä e Jahn-Teller system and realism in quantum computations. In the analyses the de Broglie-Bohm pilot-wave formulation of quantummechanics is mainly used. READ MORE

  3. 3. Quantum electronic transport in low-dimensional semiconductors

    Author : Heiner Linke; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum transport; two-dimensional electron gas; contact-free characterisation; ballistic transport; mesoscopic; electron billiard; quantum dot; electron-electron interaction; non-linear; phase breaking; Halvledarfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Linke; non-symmetric conductio; Semiconductory physics; low-dimensional structures;

    Abstract : Electronic transport is studied at low temperatures in two-dimensional electron gases (2DEGs) and in mesoscopic semiconductor microstructures. The method of microwave-detection of the Shubnikov-de Haas effect for the contact-free characterisation of transport properties of 2DEGs is explored using both magnetic-field modulation and light-induced carrier modulation. 4. 4. Waves and Trajectories in Quantum Dots

    Author : Tomas Lundberg; Joan Martorell; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with electron transport in low-dimensional semiconductor nanostructures,and in particular, systems with quasi zero-dimensional properties, called quantum dots. These systems are so small that the electron wavelength is comparable to the size of systems, which means that the wave nature of the electrons is of fundamental importance. READ MORE

    Author : Arvid Larsson; Per Olof Holtz; Artur Zrenner; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum dot; semiconductor; optical properties; spin; transport; wetting layer; polarization; kvantprick; halvledare; optiska egenskaper; spin; Electrical engineering; electronics and photonics; Elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Condensed matter physics; Kondenserade materiens fysik; Semiconductor physics; Halvledarfysik;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis deals with optical studies of semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) in the InGaAs material system. It is shown that for self-assembled InAs QDs, the interaction with the surrounding GaAs barrier and the InAs wetting layer (WL) in particular, has a very large impact on their optical properties.
