  1. 16. Methods for Constrained Optimisation of Propellers

    Author : Florian Vesting; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cavitation; constrained optimisation; genetic algorithm; propeller geometry; response surface methodology; propeller hull interaction; Kriging; artificial neural network; RANS;

    Abstract : Global market development, increasing environmental concerns and incessant risingfuel prices demand for high-grade efficient propulsion systems. This puts high pressureon the propeller designer to develop well-engineered and customized propellerdesign in a short timeframe. READ MORE

  2. 17. CFD Modelling of Hydrogen Rich Biomass Syngas Combustion

    Author : Nikolaos Papafilippou; Rikard Gebart; Kentaro Umeki; Muhammad Aqib Chishty; Christophe Duwig; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CFD; RANS; LES; FGM; Turbulent Combustion; Numerical Combustion; Swirling Flows; Gas Turbines; Biomass Syngas; Hydrogen; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Abstract : The loss of biodiversity, due to pollution and global warming, is more important and relevant now than it has ever been. Man made climate warming has its roots in the huge amount of CH4 and CO2 emissions, which have increased by 47% and 156% respectively since 1750. READ MORE

  3. 18. The Hydrodynamics of Waterjet/Hull Interaction

    Author : Arash Eslamdoost; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; trim angle; vena-contracta; transom clearance; net thrust; waterjet hull interaction; waterjet propulsion; capture area; exit drag; non-linear free-surface; intake drag; gross thrust; sinkage; streamtube; RANS; thrust deduction; potential flow; VOF;

    Abstract : The objective of the present investigation is to explore the physics behind the waterjet/hull interaction, and in particular the negative thrust deduction often reported in the semi-planing speed range. Another objective is to propose a validated numerical technique for computing the hydrodynamics of waterjet-driven hulls. READ MORE

  4. 19. Analysis of the Performance of Different V2F Turbulence Models in a Stator Vane Passage Flow

    Author : Andreas Sveningsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; heat transfer; RANS; realizability; V2F; stator flow;

    Abstract : When designing the cooling system of modern gas turbines it is important to be able to predict the heat transfer from the hot gas to the walls surrounding the gas path. One flow feature making this rather complicated is the presence of secondary, three-dimensional flow structures, often referred to as horse shoe vortices, which greatly enhance the rate of heat transfer to the endwall, especially in the leading edge region. 5. 20. Dynamic effects on yacht sails and rudders

    Author : Adam Persson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CFD; Sailing dynamics; towing tank; sail aerodynamics; rudder; verification; validation; RANS;

    Abstract : In search of increased performance, modern sailing vessels are becoming more and more complex, introducing additional challenges in the design process. The dynamic behaviour of the vessel is of great importance to safe and efficient operation and thus needs to be accounted for when evaluating the performance. READ MORE
