  1. 11. Diagnosing and monitoring open-angle glaucoma. Pupillometry and other novel techniques

    Author : Lada Kalaboukhova; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : open-angle glaucoma; relative afferent pupillary defect; pupillometer; visual field; Frequency Doubling Technology Perimetry; High-pass Resolution Perimetry; Heidelberg Retina Tomography;

    Abstract : Aim:To investigate the ability of a custom-built pupillometer and other novel diagnostic instruments to detect and monitor optic nerve damage in glaucoma.Methods:In the first two studies we investigated pupillary reactions to light in patients with glaucoma and in healthy persons using a custom-built pupillometer. 2. 12. Detection and Characterisation of Salmonella in Animal Feed Samples by PCR-Based Methods

    Author : Charlotta Löfström; Teknisk mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Food and drink technology; Livsmedelsteknik; Biotechnology; Bioteknik; Biokemisk teknik; Biochemical technology; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; mykologi; virologi; bakteriologi; Mikrobiologi; validation; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Salmonella; ribotyping; detection; animal feed; randomly amplified polymorphic DNA; pulsed-field gel electrophorsis; pre-PCR processing; PCR; polymerase chain reaction; genotyping;

    Abstract : Animal feed is a recognised source of Salmonella enterica for farm livestock and may also indirectly cause infection in people consuming foods of animal origin. It is therefore important to have rapid, reproducible and specific methods for the detection of Salmonella in feed, and for the characterisation of strains for further epidemiological investigations or to trace the source of contamination in a production facility. Abstract : The bacterium Streptococcus pyogenes is a common human pathogen known to cause bothuncomplicated and severe infections. Epidemics of invasive disease caused by S. pyogenesserotype T1 were seen in the county of Uppsala, Sweden, in 19881989 and 1994. READ MORE

  4. 14. Characterization of Aeromonas, Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonas, Bacillus and Lactobacillus spontaneously growing to high numbers in milk, minced meat, fish or cheese

    Author : Anne-Marie Lindberg; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Food and drink technology; Food Spoilage; Lactobacillus; Bacillus; Pseudomonas; Aeromonas; Enterobacteriaceae; Livsmedelsteknik;

    Abstract : The spoilage flora of refrigerated raw and pasteurized milk was classified and identified by numerical phenotypic analysis. Isolations of bacteria were made at a defined spoilage stage, when the total aerobic count was 106-107 cfu per ml. The secondary flora of ripened Swedish and Norwegian cheeses was investigated by numerical analysis. READ MORE

  5. 15. Colletotrichum spp. associated with anthracnose disease on coffee in Vietnam and on some other major tropical crops

    Author : Phuong Nguyen; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The genus Colletotrichum consists of many economically important pathogenic fungi on a broad range of host plants world-wide. They cause significant economic losses to tropical crops: fruits, cereals, grasses, vegetables, etc., due to diseases at different stages of plant development. READ MORE
