  1. 21. Differentiation and Pathogenicity within the Saprolegniaceae : Studies on Physiology and Gene Expression Patterns in Saprolegnia parasitica and Aphanomyces astaci

    Author : Gunnar Andersson; Michael J. Bidochka; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Zoophysiology; Zoofysiologi; Animal physiology; Zoofysiologi; fysiologisk mykologi; Physiological Mycology;

    Abstract : Saprolegnia parasitica and Aphanomyces astaci are parasitic water moulds belonging to the Oomycetes. Despite their importance as parasites they are very little studied at the molecular level and the work described in this thesis was aimed at increasing the molecular knowledge of these organisms by cloning and characterising genes of potential importance for reproduction and pathogenicity. 2. 22. Carbapenem resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa

    Author : Christian Giske; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Carbapenem (imipenem and meropenem) resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa is increasing, with global resistance rates approaching 20%. The most common resistance mechanisms are down-regulation of the porin OprD, and increased activity of multi-drug efflux pumps, primarily MexAB-OprM. READ MORE

  3. 23. Morphometric and molecular variation in the Nordic dogroses (Rosa Sect. Caninae, Rosaceae)

    Author : Åsa Olsson; Biologiska institutionen; []

    Abstract : In the present thesis, I investigate the hierarchical structure of morphometric and molecular diversity within and between the Nordic dogroses (Rosa Sect. Caninae, Rosaceae). I also investigate patterns of geographic differentiation and taxonomic relationships within the group. READ MORE

  4. 24. Black Truffles of Sweden : Systematics, Population Studies, Ecology and Cultivation of Tuber aestivum syn. T. uncinatum

    Author : Christina Wedén; Leif Tibell; Eric Danell; James M. Trappe; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : Tuber aestivum is an ectomycorrhizal ascomycete with underground fruit bodies. It is an economically important species, but has been regarded as endangered in Sweden. My inventory has increased the number of reported localities from 3 to 31. It has long been debated whether T. READ MORE

  5. 25. Genus Brachyspira in birds : phenotypes, phylogeny and pathogenicity

    Author : Desirée Jansson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Spirochaetes of genus Brachyspira colonize the large intestine of some mammals and birds, and cause intestinal disease and production losses in pigs and chickens. The precise significance of Brachyspira spp. colonization in birds, the bacterial species involved, and the epidemiology are incompletely understood. READ MORE
