  1. 1. Characterising Halogen Bonding in a Cooperative Model System

    Author : Stefan Peintner; Mate Erdelyi; Anja Sandström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Halogen Bond; NMR; peptide; conformation; RDC; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi;

    Abstract : Non-covalent interactions are the main driving factor for secondary structure formation of biomacromolecules and are of enormous importance for the direction of molecular recognition events, for example those of importance for drug discovery. Profound understanding of these interactions is of vital importance to achieve high affinity and selectivity of a ligand to a chosen target. READ MORE

  2. 2. Non-coagulating milk from Swedish Red Dairy Cattle : Influence of milk composition, physical properties and genetic parameters

    Author : Kajsa Nilsson; Avdelningen för livsmedel och läkemedel; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Non-coagulating milk; genetic parameter; milk composistion; heritability; protein profile; hydrolysation;

    Abstract : Non-coagulating (NC) milk is unwanted in cheese production, as it lowers cheese yield and prolongs processing time. Less yield will lead to economic losses at the dairies. Even if NC milk has been found in several breeds, studies suggest that Swedish Red Dairy cattle (RDC) has a higher frequency of NC milk than most other breeds. READ MORE

  3. 3. Processing and presentation of exogenous antigen by dendritic cells

    Author : Liying Chen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : DC; vesicular MHC-I processing; Adenosine; CD 1 d; TACA;

    Abstract : Dendritic cells (DC) play a key role in the immune system. In this thesis, we have investigated and characterized pathways for the processing and presentation of exogenous OVA on MHC-I ("cross-presentation") and how these were influenced by the purine nucleoside Adenosine (Ado), an immune regulator that accumulates to high concentrations at sites of inflammation and tumor growth. 4. 4. Supermarket refrigeration systems for demand response in smart grids

    Author : Tommie Månsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Supermarket; Demand-side management; Smart-Grid; Energy efficiency; Food retail; Demandresponse; Thermal modelling; Refrigerated Display Cabinet; Renewable energy;

    Abstract : With an increasing share of intermittent renewable energy sources in the electrical grid, the need for adapting the demand to the available supply of electricity becomes increasingly important. Within this thesis, the demand response capacity by supermarket refrigeration systems are investigated and methods for enabling it is developed. READ MORE

  5. 5. Genetic properties of feed efficiency and related traits in dairy cattle

    Author : Bingjie Li; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Feed accounts for the largest proportion of operating costs in dairy production. Improving feed efficiency (FE) is expected to increase the profits of dairy farmers and reduce the ecological footprint of dairy production. READ MORE
