16. Human Vehicle Interaction Drivers’ Body and Visual Behaviour and Tools and Process for Analysis
Abstract : Vehicle design is characterized by a high number of compromises. The special role of human factors in the process is to ensure that the compromises do not occur at the expense of the driver and passengers. READ MORE

17. Toxicometabolomics and biotransformation product screening in single zebrafish embryos
Abstract : Over the last decade environmental agencies worldwide have escalated their work to phase out animal testing for the purposes of chemical regulation. Meanwhile the number of commercially available chemicals and the requirements for hazard assessments have both increased, creating a large need for substitution of traditional in vivo assays with in vitro tests. 18. Science-policy interaction in the governance of complex socio-ecological risks : The case of chemicals management in the Baltic Sea
Abstract : In this thesis, I examine knowledge production and science-policy interaction associated with the management of chemical substances in the Baltic Sea under conditions of uncertainty and complexity. The thesis is primarily based on a qualitative analysis of policy documents and reports produced by the European Union (EU), the Helsinki Commission, the Swedish Chemicals Agency, and Gothenburg municipality, as well as 30 semi-structured interviews with scientific experts, policy makers, and government officials with knowledge and working experience in the relevant policy arenas. 19. High-capacity short-reach optical communications
Abstract : The global traffic is experiencing an exponential growth posing severe challenges to the communication networks in terms of capacity. As a future-proof technology fiber communication is widely implemented in different network segments, which can be categorized by transmission distance as long-haul and short-reach. READ MORE

20. Extending the Reach of Accurate Wavefunction Methods
Abstract : Multiconfigurational quantum chemistry methods, and especially the multiconfigurational self-consistent field (MCSCF) and multireference perturbation theory (MRPT2), are powerful tools, particularly suited to the accurate modeling of photochemical processes and transition metal catalysis. However, they are limited by their high computational cost compared to other methods, especially density functional theory. READ MORE
