  1. 1. Use of Recombinant Allergens for Component-Resolved Diagnostics (CRD) in IgE-Mediated Allergy

    Author : Åsa Marknell DeWitt; Pia Ek; Jonas Lidholm; Ronald van Ree; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Biomedical laboratory science; recombinant allergen; IgE; component-resolved diagnostics; CRD; tropomyosin; Phl p 11; Phl p 4; Pen a 1; Hev b 5; Biomedicinsk laboratorievetenskap;

    Abstract : Immunoglobulin E (IgE)-mediated allergy occurs when our immune system causes a reaction to otherwise harmless substances (allergens). Allergens are predominantly proteins present in biological materials such as pollens, mites, animal epithelia, moulds and foods. READ MORE

  2. 2. Cardiovascular Side Effects of Radiotherapy in Breast Cancer

    Author : Greger Nilsson; Carl Blomqvist; Lars Holmberg; Anne Hansen Ree; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast Cancer; Radiotherapy; Cardiovascular; Stroke; Coronary artery stenosis; Coronary artery disease; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Abstract : The aim of the thesis was to study cardiovascular side effects of radiotherapy (RT) in breast cancer (BC).In a study base of 25,171 women with BC diagnosed 1970-2000, we found a statistically significant 12% increase of stroke, compared to the stroke incidence in the background population. 3. 3. Understanding Zircon Geochronology - Constraints from Imaging and Trace Elements

    Author : Andrius Rimsa; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hydrothermal; Petrology; mineralogy; hydraulic fracturing; Sveconorwegian; incipient charnockite; EBSD; cathodoluminescence; REE; Zircon; U-Pb geochronology; geochemistry; Petrologi; mineralogi; geokemi; Kerala Khondalite Belt;

    Abstract : Formation of incipient charnockite in Söndrum, SW Sweden and the Kerala Khondalite Belt (KKB), S. India is accompanied by zircon growth. The age of the dehydration event is constrained by dating newly formed zircon to 1397±4 Ma (2?, MSWD=1.7) in Söndrum and ca. READ MORE

  4. 4. Mid-Holocene mineral dust deposition in raised bogs in southern Sweden : Processes and links

    Author : Jenny Sjöström; Malin Kylander; Carl-Magnus Mörth; Bindler Richard; Lisa Belyea; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Paleodust; peat; geochemistry; mineralogy; REE; Holocene; peat accumulation rates; paleostorms; Marine Geology; maringeologi;

    Abstract : Atmospheric mineral dust is a key component of the climate system, which affects insolation, brings nutrients to marine and terrestrial ecosystems, and acts as a cloud condensation nuclei. To reconstruct past patterns in terrestrial dust deposition natural archives may be utilized, such as loess, dunes, lakes, and peat bogs. READ MORE

  5. 5. Speciation and fractionation of Ca and the REE in fresh and marine waters

    Author : Ralf Dahlqvist; Johan Ingri; Jérôme Viers; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geokemi; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Abstract : This study is concerned with speciation and fractionation of the rare earth elements (REE) and calcium (Ca) in aqueous solutions. The aim is to investigate the chemical states and physical sizes in which these elements can be present. The REE (including neodymium) and Ca have contrasting geochemical behavior in aqueous solutions. READ MORE
