    Abstract : Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is a heterogeneous disease where a significant proportion of patients will develop an aggressive disease. Today, the mutational status of the immunoglobulin heavy variable (IGHV) genes is one of the strongest prognostic markers in CLL, where unmutated IGHV genes correlate with poor outcome. READ MORE

    Abstract : The clinical course of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is highly heterogeneous, which has prompted the search for biomarkers that can predict prognosis in this disease. The IGHV gene mutation status and certain genomic aberrations have been identified as reliable prognostic markers of clinical outcome for this disorder. READ MORE

  3. 3. Summer cyanobacterial blooms in the Baltic Sea - implications for copepod recruitment

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Systems Ecology, Stockholm University

    Author : Hedvig Hogfors; Stockholms universitet.; [2012]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cyanobacteria; Calanoid copepods; Food web interactions; Harmful algae blooms; Zooplankton; Nodularin; Allelopathy; Baltic Sea; Biochemical markers; RNA-based indices; Acidification; Global Climate Change; marin ekologi; Marine Ecology;

    Abstract : During summer, the Baltic Sea is subjected to the world’s largest cyanobacterial blooms. These blooms are linked to eutrophication and raise many questions concerning their effects on the ecosystem. To understand their impacts on the food web dynamics, it is essential to assess growth responses of grazers to these cyanobacteria. READ MORE

  4. 4. Zooplankton growth and trophic linkages Implications for fish feeding conditions in the Baltic Sea

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of System Ecology, Stockholm University

    Author : Towe Holmborn; Stockholms universitet.; [2009]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; AARS activity; biochemical markers; Clupea harengus; copepod physiology; food web interactions; non-indigenous species; RNA-based indices; Sprattus sprattus; stable isotopes; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology Marine ecology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Terrestrisk; limnisk och marin ekologi Marin ekologi; marin ekologi; Marine Ecology;

    Abstract : The aim of this Thesis was to improve our understanding and assessment of feeding conditions for zooplanktivorous fish in the Baltic Sea.We investigated (papers I, II) the usefulness of biochemical proxies for assessments of growth and metabolic rates in the dominant Baltic copepod Acartia bifilosa. 5. 5. Prognostic markers and DNA methylation profiling in lymphoid malignancies

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Sujata Bhoi; Uppsala universitet.; [2017]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lymphoid malignancies; CLL; MCL; prognostic markers; micro-RNA; methylation; stereotyped subsets;

    Abstract : In recent years, great progress has been achieved towards identifying novel biomarkers in lymphoid malignancies, including chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), at the genomic, transcriptomic and epigenomic level for accurate risk-stratification and prediction of treatment response. In paper I, we validated the prognostic relevance of a recently proposed RNA-based marker in CLL, UGT2B17, and analyzed its expression levels in 253 early-stage patients. READ MORE
