  1. 1. RNA-protein interactions in the bacteriophage MS2

    Author : Elin Grahn; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biotechnology; molekylär bioteknik avd f jonfysik ;

    Abstract : The bacteriophage MS2 coat protein interacts specifically with a 19 nucleotide long hairpin formed within the viral RNA genome. In the current work the structural details of this interaction have been examined using X-ray crystallography of complexes where the RNA hairpin sequence has been varied. READ MORE

  2. 2. Post-Transcriptional Regulation of the Murine Inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase Gene

    Author : Malin Söderberg; Matti A. Lang; Françoise Raffalli-Mathieu; Eeva Moilanen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biochemistry; iNOS; inducible nitric oxide synthase; gene regulation; post-transcriptional; mRNA stability; RNA-protein interactions; dexamethasone; murine; heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein; hnRNPI; hnRNPL; Farmaceutisk biokemi; Pharmaceutical biochemistry; Farmaceutisk biokemi;

    Abstract : Large amounts of nitric oxide (NO) are produced by the inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) upon inflammatory stimuli. NO is a multifaceted molecule, which may have beneficial effects as an antimicrobial agent in the immune defense, or cytotoxic effects in chronic inflammations, manifested as e.g. arthritis and asthma. 3. 3. Immuno-affinity interactions in sample preparation and analysis

    Author : Madalina Tudorache; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; immuno supported liquid membrane ISLM extraction; sample preparation; immunoassay; immuno-affinity interaction; antibody; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Immuno-affinity interactions (antibody-antigen) belong, together with enzyme-inhibitor/substrate/coenzyme; oligosaccharide-lectin; DNA/RNA-protein interactions etc, to the class of bio-recognition. Immuno-affinity is widely used for analysis in immunoassays with numerous applications in a variety fields (i.e. READ MORE

  4. 4. Dissection of virus-host cell interactions in the early response to infection

    Author : Marc D Panas; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Stress granules (SG) are dynamic RNA/protein assemblies in the cytoplasm of the cell, formed under conditions of oxidative stress, heat shock or viral infections. These stress conditions trigger a sudden translational arrest, leading to a rapid switch of translation from housekeeping genes to stress-related factors. READ MORE

  5. 5. Control of human papillomavirus type 1 late mRNA stability and translation by an AU-rich RNA element

    Author : Marcus Sokolowski; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; HPV-1; HPV-16; late genes; 3´ UTR; L1; L2; c-fos; AU rich element; HuR; hnRNP C1 C2; mRNA stability; translation; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Virology; medicinsk virologi;

    Abstract : Human Papillomaviruses (HPVs) infect the epithelial tissues in humans and infection with certain high-risk types is associated with cancer. The expressionof the HPV late capsid genes is dependent on cell differentiation. This may be one reason for the lack of HPV replication in vitro. READ MORE
