  1. 1. Segmentation and Visualisation of Human Brain Structures

    Author : Roger Hult; Ewert Bengtsson; Lennart Thurfjell; Håkan Hall; Ingrid Agartz; Arvid Lundervold; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bildanalys; segmentation; visualisation; brain; cortex; hippocampus; autoradiography; MRI; PET; ROI; Bildanalys; Image analysis; Bildanalys; Computerized Image Analysis; datoriserad bildanalys;

    Abstract : In this thesis the focus is mainly on the development of segmentation techniques for human brain structures and of the visualisation of such structures. The images of the brain are both anatomical images (magnet resonance imaging (MRI) and autoradigraphy) and functional images that show blood flow (functional magnetic imaging (fMRI), positron emission tomography (PET), and single photon emission tomograpy (SPECT)). 2. 2. Strategic lead-times and their implications on financial performance

    Author : Fredrik Tiedemann; Joakim Wikner; Eva Johansson; Jenny Bäckstrand; Högskolan i Jönköping; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SOCIAL SCIENCES; decoupling point; financial performance; manufacturing companies; new product development; production; purchasing; return on investment; ROI; strategic lead-time; finansiellt resultat; finansiella nyckeltal; frikopplingspunkt; inköp; lönsamhet; produktion; produktutveckling; strategiska ledtider; tillverkningsindustri;

    Abstract : The overall goal for manufacturing companies is to earn profit and increase shareholders’ value. To ensure that companies in fact are profitable, managers usually evaluate the company’s resources based on both financial and operational performance, to analyse if the resources are contributing with a financial return. 3. 3. Coding for Improved Perceived Quality of 2D and 3D Video over Heterogeneous Networks

    Author : Linda Sofia Karlsson; Mårten Sjöström; Youzhi Xu; Karsten Müller; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Information technology; Informationsteknik;

    Abstract : The rapid development of video applications for TV, the internet and mobile phones is being taken one step further in 2010 with the introduction of stereo 3D TV. The 3D experience can be further improved using multiple views in the visualization. READ MORE

  4. 4. Spatio-Temporal Pre-Processing Methods for Region-of-Interest Video Coding

    Author : Linda S. Karlsson; Tingting Zhang; Mårten Sjöström; Youzhi Xu; Apostolos Georgakis; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Region-of-interest; video coding; pre-processing; spatio-temporal filters; Computer and systems science; Data- och systemvetenskap;

    Abstract : In video transmission at low bit rates the challenge is to compress the video with a minimal reduction of the percieved quality. The compression can be adapted to knowledge of which regions in the video sequence are of most interest to the viewer. READ MORE

  5. 5. Streaming Video over Unreliable and Bandwidth Limited Networks

    Author : Hussein Aziz; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Streaming video; Mobile device; Frame splitting; Sub-frame crossing; Time Interleaving Robust Streaming; Region of Interest; Mean Opinion Score;

    Abstract : The main objective of this thesis is to provide a smooth video playout on the mobile device over wireless networks. The parameters that specify the wireless channel include: bandwidth variation, frame losses, and outage time. READ MORE
