  1. 1. Analysis and Control of Continuous Microaerobic Ethanol Production by Yeast

    Author : Carl Johan Franzén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nitrogen limitation; ethanol; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; glycerol; metabolic flux analysis; oxygen limitation; stoichiometric model; yeast physiology; RQ control;

    Abstract : Glucose fermentation by Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and xylose fermentation by Candida utilis and Pichia stipitis, were investigated under microaerobic conditions. A dynamic experimental method named oxygen programmed fermentation (OPF), and a method for microaerobic RQ control in continuous culture have been developed. READ MORE

  2. 2. Standardization and application of quantitative PCR methods in patients with hematological malignancies

    Author : Maria Malec; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Polymerase chain reaction; RQ-PCR; Minimal Residual Disease; Acute leukemia; Hodgkin s Lymphoma; cytokines;

    Abstract : Using modem combination chemotherapy regimens, it has been possible to increase the rate of complete remission (CR) in acute lymphoblastic (ALL) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The major reason for treatment failure in acute leukemia (AL) is the resistance of leukemic blasts to chemotherapeutic agents, which is accompanied by an inability of the immune system to eradicate residual leukemic cells surviving initial treatment. 3. 3. Measurable residual disease and clonal evolution in acute myeloid leukemia with focus on NPM1-mutations

    Author : Louise Pettersson; Lund Patologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; AML; MRD; Measurable residual disease; NPM1; NPM1-mutation; NPM1 type A mutation; clonal evolution; clonal patterns; subclones; genetic evolution; qPCR; RQ-PCR; ddPCR; deep seq; deep sequencing; NGS; RT-qPCR; old; elderly; MFC; flow cytometry;

    Abstract : Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is the most common form of acute leukemia in adults, with mutations in the NPM1 gene occurring in almost one third of all cases. The ability to detect residual leukemia below the resolution of conventional microscopy is crucial for evaluation of relapse risk after therapy. READ MORE

  4. 4. Minimal Residual Disease Assessment in Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

    Author : Ingrid Thörn; Christer Sundström; Richard Rosenquist; Gisela Barbany; Johan Botling; Kjeld Schmiegelow; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia; minimal residual disease; IG TCR gene rearrangements; BCR-ABL1 fusion gene transcripts; real-time quantitative PCR; multicolor flow cytometry; Pathology; Patologi; Pathology; patologi;

    Abstract : Traditionally, response to treatment in hematological malignancies is evaluated by light microscopy of bone marrow (BM) smears, but due to more effective therapies more sensitive methods are needed. Today, detection of minimal residual disease (MRD) using immunological and molecular techniques can be 100 times more sensitive than morphology. READ MORE

  5. 5. Cardiac arrest - an epidemiologic perspective on pharmacotherapy and post resuscitation care

    Author : Andreas Lundin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cardiac arrest; resuscitation; post-cardiac arrest care;

    Abstract : Background: Despite significant research and progress, cardiac arrest remains a condition with a high mortality rate, and few interventions have been demonstrated to improve outcomes in this patient group. Despite incorporation of adrenaline use in the treatment guidelines over several decades, its potential benefit remains uncertain. READ MORE
