6. Studies on signaling pathways induced by FLT3, an important oncogene in AML
Abstract : FLT3, a receptor tyrosine kinase, is expressed in hematopoietic progenitor cells. FLT3-ITD (internal tandem duplication) and D835 mutations are found in approximately 30% and 7% of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) patients respectively, and correlate with a poor prognosis, thus making the mutated receptor a potential therapeutic target. 7. Cbl in Regulation of Growth Factor Receptor Endocytosis and Actin Dynamics
Abstract : Proteins belonging to the Cbl family are multidomain scaffolds that participate in numerous processes, assembling signaling complexes and mediating attachment of ubiquitin to receptor and non-receptor tyrosine kinases. We characterized a novel role for Cbl and Cbl-b in ligand-dependent internalization of growth factor receptors. 8. Axl RTK and microRNAs in urogenital cancers
Abstract : This thesis is based on four projects focused on the Axl receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) and microRNAs in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) and in prostate cancer (PCa). Paper I focuses on differentially expressed microRNAs in ccRCC. READ MORE

9. Apoptosis Regulation in Multiple Myeloma
Abstract : Multiple myeloma (MM) is a virtually incurable B cell malignancy of the bone marrow. One important part of tumor progression and an obstacle for successful therapy is resistance to apoptosis. To combat this resistance, the mechanisms of apoptosis and survival in MM must be better defined. READ MORE

10. The Regulation of Growth and Survival in Human Multiple Myeloma Cells by IGF-I Receptor Signaling
Abstract : Multiple myeloma (MM) is an incurable B-cell malignancy mainly localized to the bone marrow. Our aim was to examine the growth- and survival-promoting role of the IGF-IR and its downstream signaling components in MM cells to identify potential targets for therapy. READ MORE
