  1. 1. Impact on the Distribution System due to Plug-In Electric Vehicles and Changes in Electricity Usage

    Author : David Steen; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle PHEV ; Electric vehicle EV ; Plug-in Electric Vehicle PEV ; Open loop radial distribution system; Electrical distribution system; Load management;

    Abstract : Replacing conventional vehicles by Plug-in Electric Vehicles (PEVs) would likely increase electricity demand and put higher stress on the electrical power system. This thesis presents an approach to evaluate the impact on electrical distribution systems (DSs) caused by charging PEVs and load management of heating loads. READ MORE

  2. 2. Externally unbonded post-tensioned CFRP tendons : a system solution

    Author : Anders Bennitz; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CFRP; prestress; tendon; external; unbonded; anchorage; beams; Civil engineering and architecture - Building engineering; CFRP; förspänning; vajer; utanpåliggande; icke vidhäftande; förankring; Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur - Byggnadsteknik; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : The introduction of Fibre Reinforced Polymers (FRP) to the civil engineering market in the late 1980s resulted in the emergence of a range of new tools for rehabilitating and strengthening concrete structures. Strengthening using FRPs is typically accomplished using non-prestressed externally bonded FRPs. READ MORE

    Abstract : Recent literature shows that there is a significant potential of decarbonisation and efficiency improvement that can be achieved through the synergy from multi-energy systems (MESs). Coupling technologies, such as co-generation plants, heat pumps and thermal storages are widely recommended as means of unlocking additional flexibility and increasing the penetration of renewables in the heating and electricity sectors. 4. 4. Planning Models for Single Wire Earth Return Power Distribution Networks

    Author : Geofrey Bakkabulindi; Lennart Söder; Mikael Amelin; Peiyuan Chen; KTH; []
    Keywords : Rural electrification; power distribution planning; Single Wire Earth Return; distribution power flow; power system modeling; SRA - Energy; SRA - Energi;

    Abstract : The high cost of grid extension to rural areas, often characterized by scattered communities with low load densities, requires the use of low cost electrification technologies to ensure economic viability. In Single Wire Earth Return (SWER) power distribution networks, the earth itself forms the current return path of the single phase system leading to significant cost savings on conductors, poles and poletop hardware compared to conventional systems. 5. 5. Efficient Integration of Distributed Generation in Electricity Distribution Networks - Voltage Control and Network Design

    Author : Ingmar Leisse; Industriell elektroteknik och automation; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Coordinated Voltage Control; Distributed Generation; Electricity meter; PV; Wind Power; Distribution Network;

    Abstract : Distributed generation (DG), i.e. generation connected to the low and medium voltage distribution network (DN), has been increasing a lot during recent years. Thus the traditional assumption of a unidirectional power flow and a voltage decrease along the distribution feeders is no longer valid in all operation conditions. READ MORE
