1. On the formation of small molecules by radiative association
Abstract : This thesis is devoted to the theoretical investigation of radiative association, which is one of the processes contributing to formation of molecules in the interstellar medium. The formation of the CN, SiN, SiP and CO molecules through radiative association of the corresponding atoms in their ground electronic states is studied by the means of classical and quantum dynamical calculations. 2. Quantum dynamical effects in complex chemical systems
Abstract : When using mathematical models to computationally investigate a chemical system it is important that the methods used are accurate enough to account for the relevant properties of the system and at the same time simple enough to be computationally affordable. This thesis presents research that so far has resulted in three published papers and one unpublished manuscript. READ MORE

3. Formation of small molecules in space through the process of radiative association
Abstract : This thesis is dedicated to calculating the reaction rate constants for the formation of molecules through radiative association (RA) under interstellar conditions. The molecules that have been studied are CH, AlCl, Na+ − H2 and Al+ − H2. READ MORE

4. Radiative association of C(3 P) and N(4 S) atoms: From semi-classical theory to coupled-states quantum dynamics
Abstract : In the present work formation of the CN radical through radiative association is simulated using both semi-classical and quantum mechanical theories. The rate coefficient for temperatures from 40 K to 1900 K has been computed using the Breit-Wigner theory to account for the resonances. READ MORE

5. The Charm of Excited Glue : Charmonium in e+e– and ppbar collisions
Abstract : This thesis treats the mass range of charmonium states and excited gluonic fields in two experiments, BESII and PANDA, and outlines a phenomenological model that connects them.In BESII, e+e– form a charmonium initial state, which is utilised as a source for secondary particles. READ MORE
