  1. 11. Technical solutions for low-temperature heat emission in buildings

    Author : Adnan Ploskic; Sture Holmberg; Bjarne Olesen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Analytical and numerical modeling; baseboard skirting heating; building energy performance; computational fluid dynamics CFD ; heat transfer; low-temperature heating; space heating; thermal comfort; Järnvägsgruppen - Effektiva tågsystem för godstrafik; Järnvägsgruppen - Effektiva tågsystem för godstrafik;

    Abstract : The European Union is planning to greatly decrease energy consumption during the coming decades. The ultimate goal is to create sustainable communities that are energy neutral. One way of achieving this challenging goal may be to use efficient hydronic (water-based) heating systems supported by heat pumps. READ MORE

  2. 12. CFD simulation of indoor climate in low energy buildings

    Author : Daniel Risberg; Thomas Olofsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : In this thesis computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was used for simulation of the indoor climate of low-energy buildings in cold climate. The heat consumption in newly built houses was reduced drastically. READ MORE

  3. 13. Analysis of PEM Fuel Cell Stacks and Systems with Water/Thermal Balances

    Author : Takamasa Ito; Värmeöverföring; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Thermal engineering; applied thermodynamics; Termisk teknik; termodynamik; PEM Fuel Cell Systems ; Water Thermal Balances ; Heat Exchangers ; PEM Fuel Cell Stacks ;

    Abstract : The Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell has been investigated for a long time, and is regarded as a new energy source for various applications, such as portable, stationary and automotive ones. However, due to the shortage of the infrastructure in the society, the high cost, the difficulty of the water/thermal management, etc. READ MORE

  4. 14. Through air drying : Thermographic studies of drying rates, drying non-uniformity and infrared assisted drying

    Author : Aron Tysén; Lars Nilsson; Shri Ramaswamy; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Through air drying; TAD; Drying; Dewatering; Water removal; Infrared drying; Non-uniformity; Variability; Formation; Thermography; Tissue; Fabric; Wire; Pulp; Grammage; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The removal of water is an integral part of papermaking. The drying process is responsible for a great share of the energy used in the paper machine. Premium grade tissue products are dried by through air drying. Large volumes of natural gas are burned to heat the air drawn through the paper web to achieve the drying. READ MORE

  5. 15. Low-Temperature Heating and Ventilation for Sustainability in Energy Efficient Buildings

    Author : Arefeh Hesaraki; Sture Holmberg; Bahram Moshfegh; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Low-temperature heating system; Energy savings; Seasonal thermal energy storage; Variable air volume ventilation system; Indoor air quality;

    Abstract : In 2013, the building sector consumed approximately 39 % of the total final energy use in Sweden. Energy used for heating and hot water was responsible for approximately 60 % of the total energy consumption in the building sector. Therefore, energy-efficient and renewable-based heating and ventilation systems have high potential for energy savings. READ MORE
