  1. 1. Railway operation analysis Evaluation of quality, infrastructure and timetable on single and double-track lines with analytical models and simulation

    Author : Olov Lindfeldt; Bo-Lennart Nelldal; Lars-Göran Mattsson; Ingo Hansen; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Railway operation; Railway capacity; Single-track; Double-track; Partial double-track; Inter-station distance; Delay; Delay propagation; Crossing; Overtaking; Timetable flexibility; Simulation; Experimental design; TECHNOLOGY Civil engineering and architecture; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur;

    Abstract : This thesis shows the advantages of simple models for analysis of railway operation. It presents two tools for infrastructure and timetable planning. It shows how the infrastructure can be analysed through fictive line designs, how the timetable can be treated as a variable and how delays can be used as performance measures. READ MORE

  2. 2. Railway Track Stiffness Dynamic Measurements and Evaluation for Efficient Maintenance

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Eric Berggren; Mats Berg; Laurent Schmitt; [2009]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Railway track stiffness; maintenance; soil dynamics; measurement; simulation; vibration; TECHNOLOGY Engineering mechanics Vehicle engineering; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Teknisk mekanik Farkostteknik;

    Abstract : Railway track stiffness (vertical track load divided by track deflection) is a basic parameter oftrack design which influences the bearing capacity, the dynamic behaviour of passing vehiclesand, in particular, track geometry quality and the life of track components. Track stiffness is abroad topic and in this thesis some aspects are treated comprehensively. READ MORE

  3. 3. Track circuits’ robustness Modeling, measurement and simulation

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Emilio Rodriguez; [2014]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Track circuit; Relay; False positive signals; Signalling in railway; Modelling; Simulation; Testing; Robustness; Interoperability; Reliability; Railway Infrastructure; Technology - Electrical engineering; electronics and photonics; Information technology - Telecommunication; Information technology - Computer engineering; Technology - Engineering physics; Information technology - Systems engineering; Teknikvetenskap - Elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik; Informationsteknik - Telekommunikation; Informationsteknik - Datorteknik; Teknikvetenskap - Teknisk fysik; Informationsteknik - Systemteknik; Drift och underhållsteknik; Operation and Maintenance;

    Abstract : In countries with rough weather conditions, frequent delays cause railway companies to waste time and money. Many of these delays are related to the train detection systems, as the old DC track circuits are still used in some countries, including Sweden, our case study. READ MORE

  4. 4. Railway track dynamic modelling

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Blas Blanco; Leif Kari; Stefano Bruni; [2017]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Track modelling; Timoshenko element; local deformation; response discontinuity; distributed supports; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Abstract : The railway vehicles are an increasing mean of transportation due to, its reduced impact on environment and high level of comfort provided. These reasons have contributed to settle a positive perception of railway traffic into the European society. READ MORE

  5. 5. Quality on single-track railway lines with passenger traffic Anlytical model for evaluation of crossing stations and partial double-tracks

    University dissertation from KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Olov Lindfeldt; Bo-Lennart Nelldal; Lars-Göran Mattsson; Nils Olsson; [2007]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Railway operation; Railway capacity; single-track; crossing station; partial double-track; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Railway transportation is showing a substantial increase. Investments in new infrastructure, new fast and comfortable vehicles, and high frequency of service are important factors behind the increase.Infrastructure configuration and timetable construction play important roles in the competitiveness of railway transportation.
