  1. 1. Rainfall-Runoff Modelling Using Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs)

    Author : Aman Mohammad Kalteh; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydrogeology; geographical and geological engineering; Hydrogeologi; teknisk geologi; teknisk geografi; Self-organizing map; Feed-forward multilayer perceptron; Forecasting; Hydrological modelling; Missing values; Rainfall-runoff modelling; Estimation; Artificial neural networks;

    Abstract : Over the last decades or so, artificial neural networks (ANNs) have become one of the most promising tools for modelling hydrological processes such as rainfall-runoff processes. In most studies, ANNs have been demonstrated to show superior result compared to the traditional modelling approaches. READ MORE

  2. 2. Uncertainties in rainfall-runoff modelling of green urban drainage systems : Measurements, data selection and model structure

    Author : Ico Broekhuizen; Maria Viklander; Günther Leonhardt; Manfred Kleidorfer; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering; Centre - Centre for Stormwater Management DRIZZLE ; Centrumbildning - Centrum för dagvattenhantering DRIZZLE ;

    Abstract : Green urban drainage systems are used to avoid flooding and damages to people and property, while limiting the downstream flooding and water quality problems caused by pipe-based drainage systems. Computer models are used to analyse and predict the performance of such systems for design and operation purposes. READ MORE

  3. 3. Impacts of climate change on surface hydrology in the source region of the Yellow River

    Author : Feifei Yuan; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Source region of the Yellow River; climate change; summer precipitation; ENSO; teleconnection pattern; sea surface temperature; Xinanjiang model; Rainfall-Runoff process;

    Abstract : The source region of the Yellow River contributes about 35% of the total water yield in the Yellow River basin playing an important role for meeting the downstream water resources requirements. The declining water availability caused by climate change in the source region of the Yellow River is expected to have severe repercussions for the 110 million basin inhabitants in terms of water resources affecting agricultural productivity, municipal, and industrial water supply. 4. 4. Hydrological modeling as a tool for sustainable water resources management: a case study of the Awash River Basin

    Author : Selome M. Tessema; Berit Balfors; Ulla Mörtberg; Shimelis Gebriye Setegn; Steve W. Lyon; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydrological characteristics; Distributed hydrological modeling; Rainfall-runoff correlation; Streamflow prediction; Sustainable water management; Awash River Basin; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Abstract : The growing pressure on the world‘s fresh water resources is enforced by population growth that leads to conflicts between demands for different purposes. A main concern on water use is the conflict between the environment and other purposes like hydropower, irrigation for agriculture and domestic and industry water supply, where total flows are diverted without releasing water for ecological conservation. 5. 5. Building a coherent hydro-climatic modelling framework for the data limited Kilombero Valley of Tanzania

    Author : Alexander Koutsouris; Steve W. Lyon; Jan Seibert; Mekonnen Gebremichael; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydrology; Precipitation; Recession analysis; End - member mixing analysis; EMMA; GLUE; HBV; down scaling; Quantile mapping; CFSR; CMORPH; CRU; GPCC; ERA - i; MERRA; TRMM; UDEL; Satellite; Reanalysis; Kilombero; Tanzania; Eastern Africa; Africa; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Abstract : This thesis explores key aspects for synthesizing data across spatiotemporal scales relevant for water resources management in an Eastern Africa context. Specifically, the potential of large scale global precipitation datasets (GPDs) in data limited regions to overcome spatial and temporal data gaps is considered. READ MORE
