6. Transient Response of Grounding Systems Caused by Lightning: Modelling and Experiments
Abstract : In order to achieve better lightning protection and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements, the needs for a proper grounding system and the knowledge of its transient behaviour become crucial. The present work is focused towards developing engineering models for transient analysis of grounding system with sufficient accuracy and simplicity for lightning studies. READ MORE

7. On the Attachment of Lightning Flashes to Wind Turbines
Abstract : The work presented in this thesis aims at investigating the attachment of lightning flashes to wind turbines. Modern wind turbines are highly exposed to lightning strikes, due to the increase of their height and the rotation of the blades. Upward lightning is the dominant mechanism of lightning strikes to them. READ MORE

9. Multi-conductor transmission line model for electrified railways: A method for including responses of lumped devices
Abstract : For studying the response to transients caused by lightning and other electromagnetic disturbance sources, electrified railway systems can be represented as a system of multiconductor transmission lines (MTL) above a finitely conducting ground. The conductors present in this system would be wires for traction power supply, auxiliary power, return conductors for traction current, the tracks, and finitely conducting ground. READ MORE

10. Conducted and Radiated Electromagnetic Interference in Modern Electrified Railways with Emphasis on Pantograph Arcing
Abstract : Arcing from the pantograph, a commonly observed phenomenon, is knownto be a major source of wideband electromagnetic emission which is more pronounced during the winter. Experience within the railway industry has shown that this source of EMI and its characteristics need to be understood thoroughly for solving the associated EMI issues in the desired fashion.
