11. Light interactions in flexible conjugated dyes
Abstract : In this thesis methodological developments have been made for the description of flexible conjugated dyes in room temperature spectrum calculations. The methods in question target increased accuracy and efficiency by combining classical molecular dynamics (MD) simulations with time-dependent response theory spectrum calculations. 12. Structure and Dynamics in Transition Metal Perovskites — An Optical Spectroscopy Study
Abstract : Transition metal oxides with the perovskite structure exhibit a vast number of exotic properties due to the large number of competing degrees of freedom at the Fermi surface. Together with couplings between and correlations within these degrees of freedom, this class of materials is of high interest from both a practical and theoretical point of view. READ MORE

13. Colloidal fumed silica and soluble silicates — Interactions and microstructure
Abstract : Colloidal dispersions and gels are important material systems with applications in many industrial processes and consumer products. This thesis aims at increasing the understanding of colloidal interactions and the phase transition from a colloidal dispersion to an arrested structure in two systems based on silica. READ MORE

14. New Electrolyte Materials for Lithium Batteries and Fuel Cells - an ab initio and vibrational spectroscopy study
Abstract : In order to reduce our fossil based energy consumption there is an urge for new energy storage and conversion devices such as lithium batteries and fuel cells for more efficient energy use. The heart of these devices is an ion conducting electrolyte which needs to provide high performance at low cost. READ MORE

15. Sensitivity-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy and High-Speed Fluorescence for In Situ Gas-Phase Diagnostics
Abstract : In this work, combustion and thermal decomposition processes were studied employing laser-based diagnostic techniques, and the techniques were improved and demonstrated to achieve enhanced detection sensitivity. Raman spectroscopy was employed to study flames under elevated and atmospheric pressures with various fuels, such as methane, hydrogen-enriched methane, DME, ethylene, and ammonia. READ MORE
